According to our findings, this was Bartosz Z.'s first service in Warsaw's Praga district and his 71st service in general. The shift was supposed to last 12 hours. That day, he was paired with a more experienced officer – the manager of the entire shift in Warsaw's Targówek, a district neighboring Praga-Północ.
The tragic intervention began when the officer on duty received a call for help. It concerned a man with a machete behaving dangerously in a tenement house on Inżynierska Street. – This is one of the most famous addresses in Warsaw in terms of threats – explains our police interlocutor, who requested anonymity.
