Michał Kuczmierowski came out of custody. – I will want to go back to Poland. My goal is to defend my good name – he announced. Earlier, the London Court in Westminster reported that a deposit had been received by the former head of the Government Strategic Reserve Agency.
Kuczmierowski heard in August last year allegations regarding participation in an organized criminal group, failure to comply with duties and exceeding his rights to achieve financial benefits. Therefore, he was detained in London at the beginning of September. Poland then turned to its extradition. Currently, the British magistrate court is conducting proceedings in this case.
The London court decided that Kuczmierowski may leave the detention of a deposit, which – according to British law – is divided into security, amounting to 200,000 pounds and a financial guarantee worth 365,000 pounds, i.e. in total the equivalent of over PLN 2.8 million.
Kuczmierowski: I will fight to demonstrate my innocence
Kuczmierowski came out of custody after 20.30 Polish time (19.30 in London). – Thank you very much to my family, my friends, my various relatives to my friends and further friends, who constantly trust and believe in my innocence, who supported me all the time, also in this difficult experience of being in prison. Without you, it would certainly be impossible – he said in an interview with journalists. He also thanked “Polish and British lawyers”.
– I think I have many months ahead of me, perhaps many years of fighting for justice and an honest trial. This time was also the moment when I had to sum up many things. I will definitely fight to show my innocence. I am an innocent person – he said.
– What happened to me is an evident wave of hate, a wave of slander, which began many months before arrest. Anyway, the arrest was also waiting until I went abroad. Platform deputies lied about me that I went to Cyprusthat I hide, which was absolute not true – said Kuczmierowski.

Kuczmierowski: I want to go back to Poland
– I was in touch all the time with law enforcement agencies and with justice, which did not deign to contact me before, and did not deign to answer my queries – he added.
The former head of Rars said that he wanted to return to the country. – Of course I will want to return to Poland. My goal is to defend my good name, also to explain this situation. However, I will expect a fair and honest trial – he said.
– The detention order was waiting until I went abroad and tried to have good recordings of how they transport me in handcuffs, because it was needed for some political and media speeches – the former head of Rars said. He added that in the face of such circumstances “he absolutely does not believe in an honest trial.”
When asked about how he would refer to the allegations, including participation in an organized criminal group, he replied: “This is absolute nonsense.” – All people who are associated with the previous government get a patch and an allegation of an organized criminal group – he assessed.

Kuczmierowski explained that he was detained in London because he was on family holidays in Turkey. – The moment I found out that there was a desire to stop me, the only plane was to London. I preferred to sit and fight for extradition in a British and not Turkish prison – he said.
The former head of the Strategic Reserve Agency assured that it was also true that he was looking for a job in Great Britain. – Earlier and later I had meetings here (in London) in connection with work. I stayed in London many times this year and also in the previous one – he added.
Now Kuczmierowski will have to follow the curfew between 23 and 5 am, which will be monitored electronically, and he will not be able to go abroad. He must also give the passport and proof of the police identity. He is also obliged to make available to the court and the prosecutor's office of a mobile phone number and must ensure that the phone will be charged and enabled all the time so that it can receive all connections. Kuczmierowski will also have to be at a specific, designated address.
The full extradition interrogation of Michał Kuczmierowski will take place on July 21 and will last five days, until July 25, 2025. On January 22, the District Court in Warsaw He did not take into account the application of the defender of the former head of RARS to issue the Kuczmierowski Iron Letter.
Abuse in rars
From April 12, 2024, the Silesian Division of the National Prosecutor's Office is investigating irregularities in RARS. They were initiated on December 1, 2023 at the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw and entrusted to the lead CBAMazowieckie Customs and Tax Office and the Police Interior Office.
The basis for initiating the proceedings were materials gathered by the CBA and two notifications of suspected crimes submitted by the General Inspector of Financial Information. According to the prosecutor's office, the evidence gathered justifies the suspicion that when performing tasks at the Government Agency Agency (RARS), abuses were allowed to cover the provisions allowing the Agency to omit the procedures specified in the Public Procurement Law.
So far, a total of 21 allegations of eight people, including the former RARS president Michał Kuczmierowski, three other agency officials, as well as Paweł S. have been presented in the investigation, in particular, the allegations concern in particular participation in an organized criminal group, exceeding rights by public officials, money laundering and money laundering and money laundering and money laundering and money laundering and money laundering reference to influence in a public institution. They also include irregularities in spending not less than PLN 340 million by the agency.
