Pension Rolnicza is entitled to persons covered by social insurance in KRUS, who have reached the statutory retirement age (60 years in the case of women and 65 years in the case of men) and may demonstrate at least 25 years of insurance. The system was developed taking into account the realities of rural life, including a lower level of income. Unlike ZUS, flat -rate contributions apply in KRUS, which affects a different way of calculating benefits. What amounts do farmers get?
What is the biggest pension in KRUS? This is how much goes to the record holder's account
Last year the highest pension paid by KRUS was PLN 4,295.66 gross. After conducted on March 1, 2025 valorisation This amount increased by 5.5 percent, reaching the level of PLN 4,532.90 gross per month. This is a unique situation. According to KRUS spokeswoman Elżbieta Oppenauer, a record benefit goes to a man who was subject to insurance for 41 years and 7 months, of which he worked outside agriculture. Importantly, this additional period is included in the agricultural pension only in the case of people born before January 1, 1949.
Although the amount of the benefit can impress, in practice it is rare. The vast majority of farmers receive much lower payments. After the last valorisation, the basic pension in KRUS is PLN 1,878.41 gross, and it is such a sum that most often goes to the accounts of people who have finished work on the farm. The differences between the lowest and record level show how important the length of the insurance period and regularity play payments.
How to calculate an agricultural pension? You have to take into account two issues
Farmers' pension system is based on the provisions of the Social Insurance Act of 1990. The benefits paid by the cash register are financed mainly from the pension fund, which goes to both contributions paid by farmers and budget subsidies. The amount of the pension depends on the two basic pillars:
- the basic part, which is the same for all pensioners and valorized every year (currently PLN 1,878.41 gross),
- complementary part, calculated individually on the basis of additional periods of payment of contributions.
It is the latter element that makes the differences between benefits significant. They are taken into account, among others contributory years after reaching retirement age, as well as earlier work outside agriculture. If the appropriate conditions are met, e.g. the date of birth before January 1, 1949. As a result, the amount of payments may fluctuate, and in extreme cases the difference between the minimum and maximum pension exceeds even several thousand zlotys per month.
