The Russian army has increased the number of assault operations since the start in Saudi Arabia talks about the suspension of weapons – according to the data of the analytical project Deepstate, monitoring the situation on the front. According to the AP agency, referring to Ukrainian interlocutors, the Kremlin is preparing for a new offensive on the front line with a length of a thousand kilometers.

The Sunday report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces says about over 220 combat clashes on the front over the last day. Over 90 clashes apply to one episode – near the city of Pokrowsk in the Donetsk region.

Data on the staff, as well as the observations of the analytical DeepState project, monitoring the situation on the front, indicate that Russian forces intensified attacks in a situation taking place in Saudi Arabia conversations regarding a truce in the triangle – USA, Ukraine and Russia.

200 attacks a day

According to Deepstate, from March 1 to 26 this year, the Russian troops conducted 17 percent more assault attacks than in the previous month. As indicated, only from 25 to 27 March the Russian army conducted on average over 200 attacks a day – this is the highest number since the beginning of 2025.

The offensive focuses on the sections of the front in the area of the cities of Kupiańsk, Łyman, Toreck, as well as in the Kurski region. The most difficult is the situation near Pokrowska, a key logistics center of the Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk region.

Russian troops also intensified assault, using small groups of soldiers on the Zaporoski section. On Friday, Władysław Wołoszyn, spokesman for the Ukrainian grouping in southern Ukraine, said that the offensive in the area where the Russian army controls 70 percent of the area began in early March, and in half of this month the Russians managed to break the defense of Ukrainian forces 10 kilometers and a depth of five kilometers, as well as several villages.

– The Russians want to get the greatest advantage to go as far as possible in the Zaporosclerie region, if possible, even reach the administrative borders of this region. This is one of the reasons why the situation in the south of Ukraine, in particular in the direction of Zaporoski, begins to deteriorate – explained Wołoszyn.

25 kilometers from Zaporozhye

Currently, the Russian troops are located at a distance of about 25 km from the Zaporozhye, but the Ukrainian defense “is not deep enough” to effectively stop the possible offensive – the analysts of the American Institute of War Studies (ISW) assessed in the recent report. According to their assessment, the difficult situation also persists on the Kharkiv section and near the key cities in Donbasswhich can be in direct danger if the defense “breaks”.

In conversations with the United States, Russia insists that all four circuits of Ukraine – Donecki, Lugansk, Zaporoski and Kherson – are under its control within the administrative borders – wrote the independent Russian -language Moscow Times portal earlier, referring to sources close to the Kremlin.

The authorities in Moscow hope that Washington can put pressure on Kiev to withdraw his troops from the regions occupied by Russia. Alternatively, Moscow could try to take over some other circuits of Ukraine, e.g. Dnipropetrovsk or Sumski, and then offer their exchange for Kherson and Zaporozhye – said the interlocutor Moscow Times.

Opponents of the compromise in the Kremlin believe that before Russia concludes an agreement, it must first achieve military successes – liberate the Kurski circuit and “bite” some of the Ukrainian territories – wrote Moscow Times.
