We admire you, you are the heroes of this meeting, the avengers we are looking for – said on Saturday the Speaker of the Sejm and chairman of Poland 2050 Szymon HoĊownia during a Christmas Eve meeting with children and young people who face special challenges in life. He was accompanied at the meeting by his wife, Urszula BrzeziĊska-HoĊownia.
Children from foster care, children with disabilities and residents of social organizations and social welfare homes were invited to the Christmas meeting at the Sejm. In addition to the Speaker of the Sejm and his wife Urszula BrzeziĊska-HoĊownia, the Christmas Eve meeting was also attended by, among others, the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak with his wife Karina Bosak, Minister for Civil Society Adriana Porowska, as well as the chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee for Social Policy and Family Katarzyna Ueberhan.
The Marshal said that the Sejm is the “heart of democracy”. – Here people argue, everyone comes with their own idea, here people can sometimes adopt something sensible and make life go a little better – he explained.
HoĊownia also added that in the last year it has also been a “Sejm of children”. He pointed out, among others: for the establishment of the Commission for Children and Youth and the educational project Children and Youth Sejm, in which sixth, seventh and eighth graders took part for the first time. He recalled that a parliamentary kindergarten had recently been established.

Addressing children and young people, the Marshal emphasized that they face particular difficulties and challenges. – I want to tell you today, as the Speaker of this Sejm, that you are the most important today. You are the heroes of this meeting. We admire you, please hear this, we admire you because you are truly wonderful, small and slightly larger heroes, superheroes, you are the Avengers we are eagerly looking for – said HoĊownia.
Urszula BrzeziĊska-HoĊownia wished the guests peaceful holidays and finding time to rest, and the Minister for Civil Society, Adriana Porowska, emphasized that “dreams can be realized.”
– I worked in a non-governmental organization for many years, so I supported all those people who came to me and said: you know what, I guess there will be no tomorrow, I don't have any dreams anymore, it's hard for me, I'm sad, there is no one who will help me. to help me. That's why I'm terribly happy that those who give us the wind in our sails are with us today, said Porowska, thanking non-governmental organizations and those who take care of children and young people on a daily basis.
After the official speeches, the meeting participants shared the wafer, and then there was a performance by the folk song and dance group “Promyki”.
