The child returned from Africa with two transfers, i.e. in three different aircraft. At the moment, we set passenger lists in detail – said the Chief Sanitary Inspector Paweł Grzesiowski, talking about the case of a six -year -old child patient with diphtheria. Grzesiowski also said that there is a suspicion of the disease from another person.
Last week Doctors in Wrocław confirmed the child's illnessinfectious disease of the throat and larynx, which thanks to vaccinations has been populated. The sick child was not vaccinated. It returned from vacation in Africa. The child's condition is severe but stable.
On Monday, during a press conference, the Chief Sanitary Inspector Paweł Grzesiowski said that in connection with the determination of the diagnosis of diphtheria in the boy, Alert was launched. – This child returned from Africa with two transfers, i.e. in three different aircraft. There was a need to determine the passenger lists through the IHR system, i.e. this international notification system – he said.
He explained that the information about the detected case of the disease on the diphtheria was sent “to two these interchange countries and at that time detailed arrangements of passenger lists are underway”. – Who, where, what places he occupied on the plane, because it is the prevention and investigation of only the closest people sitting in the immediate vicinity of the patient – said Grzesiowski.
– These were international flights, so a very wide action is launched regarding the search for all passengers and notifying them. Also, this action, this epidemiological investigation, concerns Polish citizens who here (…) are also covered by preventive proceedings – he said. As he explained, it is about a plane that landed in Warsaw.

Grzesiowski explained that “at the moment our units, our stations set detailed lists of people, try to reach those people, which is not easy at all.”
Grzesiowski noted that for today “we can say that apart from these two cases we do not have information about more infected people.” – This is a situation regarding the case of a child unvaccinated against diphtheria, which was infected outside of Poland, so we are talking about a case of dipped diphtheria to Poland – he said.
Grzesiowski about the second case of diploma suspected
During the press conference, Grzesiowski said that “the occurrence of infection in this child resulted in the second case we learned about yesterday.”
– It is still at the stage of diploma suspected, because it is a person who had direct contact with that sick child. This is an adult who is also under observation of doctors in one of Wrocław hospitals – he explained.
– This person has symptoms of moderation of severe infection, mainly limited to the respiratory tract. Nevertheless, due to the pronounced epidemiological connection, this person also received an anti -bilon serum yesterday – he said.
