People look at this and see a president who in no way allows the government to implement its policy in very difficult times – said Bartosz ArÅ‚ukowicz (KO) in “Fakty po Faktach”, commenting on the dispute over the nomination of ambassadors. – You need to talk to the president, not give him orders – said Zbigniew Bogucki from PiS.
The dispute over ambassadors between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the president continues. In March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the minister Radoslaw Sikorski decided that over 50 ambassadors would end their missions, and a dozen or so candidacies submitted for approval by the previous management of the ministry would be withdrawn. At the same time, the MFA expressed hope for harmonious cooperation on this matter with the president.
According to the law, the ambassador is appointed and dismissed by the president. The head of the president's office, Marcin Mastalerek, stated that Andrzej Duda does not agree to the mass recall of ambassadors without specific grounds and without giving reasons.
The case was commented on by Bartosz ArÅ‚ukowicz (KO) and Zbigniew Bogucki (PiS), guests of “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.
Arłukowicz: I have the impression that the president was offended
Bartosz ArÅ‚ukowicz, assessing the president's attitude, said that “he has the impression that he was offended”.
– At the moment he is stamping his foot and he is all alone, the last PiS outrigger in Polish politics. The president, who says “no, because no”, stamps his foot and says, “I will not cooperate with the government”, is he acting to the detriment of whom? In reality, he is acting first and foremost to the detriment of the government, because it is the government that has to implement foreign policy, among other things using tools such as ambassadors – he added.
– On the other hand, Mr. President, in my opinion, is harming himself. Because people look at this, they see a president who in no way allows the government to implement its policy in very difficult times – he continued.
– Minister Sikorski, who is facing very serious political and diplomatic tasks, must have the tools to implement the government's policy Donald Tusknot Jaroslaw Kaczynski – he stated.
Bogucki: You have to talk to the president, not give him orders
– This is not blocking the government, it is just a presidential prerogative – commented Zbigniew Bogucki (PiS). – If the government often treats the president as a necessary evil, then the president as the head of state, the first citizen of the Republic of Poland, has the prerogative to appoint ambassadors – he added.
He stated that “it has always been the case that in the Polish constitutional system, where the highest executive power belongs to the president and the government, so-called cohabitation must occur.”
– You need to talk to the president, not give him orders – he said.
