Szymon Hołownia He is active in the media on a daily basis due to his position for a year function of the Speaker of the Sejm. He speaks frequently on current issues they outrage citizens. Recently he participated in a conversation that was not easy – a senior woman present in Kraśnik talked about her problem. How to get to him he responded marshal?
Szymon Hołownia in a difficult conversation with a senior. “I have nothing to go to Szymonek with”
One of the seniors tried to make a short confession about herself. She confirmed that she was taking part in classes at the University of the Third Age. She mentioned that her group needed lecturers, and since the marshal himself had once worked in this profession, he came up with a bold proposal. – Lectures, exercises, we'll come to an agreement – he said. A moment later, the senior started a difficult thread. – Does the government know how widows live? – she asked Hołownia, which certainly surprised him a little. She decided to tell her own story. – Why do we widows, after losing our husbands, remain alone, we are harmed by fate, because our husbands take their pensions with them. After 35 years of work as an accountant, I have such a pension that I am ashamed to say. I have an apartment for which I have been paying PLN 680 since October. It's hard to live without the Internet, it's hard to live without a phone. You can't live without gas, you can't live without light, you have a recreational garden, there are fees. What are you doing, why are you leaving us widows until the end? – she asked directly. But that's not all. The senior admitted that she could barely make ends meet and therefore had no way to give a gift to her friend's son. – Szymonek has 800 plus, he has books, he has holidays, he has everything. And I'm a grandmother, I have nothing to go to Szymonek with. And this is a tragedy for us, we were left until the end. Wait, grandma summer, until the mare dies… In vitro fertilization is sorted, teachers are sorted, entrepreneurs are sorted… – she said, which made the marshal have to think a bit about the answer. He reminded her of the existence of the widow's pension. The senior knows about it and also remembers that the benefit will be paid only from July 2025.
And how many widows will not survive?
– she concluded.
Szymon Hołownia talked about widows. “Solomon cannot pour from an empty cup”
The Marshal noted that many people will certainly not be satisfied with the amount of the benefit. – But we also struggle with the general problem that Solomon cannot pour from an empty cup – he pointed out. – We are adding further elements, i.e. social pension, widow's pension, but they say: there should be more. We are now negotiating the health insurance premium and they also say: there should be more. And rightly so. But all these processes need to be started and continued, he added. He mentioned that supporting couples who cannot have children is a key issue. – It is extremely important because without children the pension system will collapse – he said. He recalled that another important step was raising the budget to increase salaries in the public sector and in education.
