The weather does not help flood victims dry their homes. It has been raining in the southwestern part of the country for several days. This complicates and prolongs the process of drying apartments and premises. It's getting cold outside, and many people live in extremely difficult conditions.

Furniture, household appliances, often entire home furnishings. Everything to be thrown away. It's often all your life's possessions.

– This was my daughter's room and later we built a small bathroom with a toilet here – one of the residents of Kłodzko shows us around. Thousands of houses were completely destroyed. In addition, in recent days the situation has been getting worse instead of improving.

– My private basement and boiler room were flooded to the ceiling, so the water from below is constantly rising even higher and the walls are still soaking wet. The apartment is currently being dried, our interlocutor continues.

The weather doesn't help

Dehumidifiers literally work around the clock, but unfortunately the water in the basements is increasing. The walls are still soaking wet.

– This water is increasing. Two days ago, when it wasn't raining and the water was in the trough lower, there was practically no water in our basement and we pumped it out, and now you can see what is starting to happen – comments a resident of Kłodzko, standing in the flooded basement.

– The weather isn't helping. As much as could be vented, that much could be vented. But the weather doesn't help. Something will be done there by winter, but not much. Let it dry thoroughly. We know that later, when we build the apartment, we want to prevent moisture from getting in there, says a resident of Kłodzko.

It is getting colder outside, and many families have nowhere to return to, many of them live in extremely difficult conditions.

Just make it before winter

Mr. Piotr's house was completely flooded. Despite this, he lives there with his family. On the one hand, they have nowhere to go, on the other hand, in many cases, renovations will be very difficult and time-consuming. In addition, many families have not yet received financial assistance, and without it, rebuilding damaged homes is often impossible.

– We are waiting whether to buy or invest something, companies are coming, today there was a drying company, tomorrow a construction company will come, but we don't know if we will be able to afford it at all – admits a resident of Stronie Śląskie.

Money and hands are urgently needed. Literally every day counts to make it before winter.

– Up to this white strip it was flooded, then the water drained faster, and then, unfortunately, slowly, everything was saturated a few meters, because there is a basement, there is a basement, there are foundations. Everything is soaked – describes a resident of the village of Wronów.

There is still water in the basement that cannot be pumped out due to the constantly high groundwater level. The entire town was under water. In every flooded house, the plaster must be removed and the damp walls must be dried.

There is plenty of work, and fortunately, so do people who want to help. – Overall, the building is in poor technical condition, we will try to renovate it, but we will try to provide Mr. Rafał with some living conditions during the winter, because it is impossible to spend the winter this way – says one of the volunteers.
