In Bucharest, the temperature reaches up to 43 degrees in the shade. Five people have died in Romania in recent days due to the heat. The situation is similar in Greece, where at least six tourists died last month due to the temperature, including British TV presenter Michael Mosley. Outdoor work has been restricted in the country. Italy has also been experiencing almost 40-degree heat for several days. This is the effect of the African anticyclone, which Italian meteorologists have named “Charon” after the mythical god of the dying and the ferryman across the Styx.

As we read, on Monday (July 15), the water temperature in Dubrovnik on the Adriatic Sea reached 29.7 degrees Celsius – the highest since measurements have been taken. – The water is so warm that it's hard to cool down in it – admits another woman, who is spending her vacation on the island of Krk.
The previous record was recorded almost exactly nine years ago. On July 21, 2015, thermometers on the island of Rab showed two tenths of a degree lower than they currently are in Dubrovnik. According to scientists, most of the water temperature records in the Adriatic have occurred in the last fifteen years. Climate change is affecting very high air temperatures, and consequently, sea water temperatures.
Heatwave also in Poland. Forecasts are not optimistic
Poland is experiencing its longest heatwave this year. For this reason, weather warnings issued by the IMWM. A long period of high temperature, although it may seem an anomaly, is completely normal at this moment in our part of Europe. a phenomenon and we have to adapt to it, experts warn.
Professor Zbigniew Karaczun from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences emphasized that long periods of very high temperatures, interspersed with storms, have occurred in history and were nothing extraordinary. Today, however, the main problem is the frequency of their occurrence, and this is growing rapidly from year to year. – The forecasts are that for Warsaw, the increase in the frequency of five-day heat waves will increase by as much as 600 percent by the end of this century – said the scientist.
During prolonged periods of heat, avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day and remember to stay hydrated. During this time, you should drink at least three liters of water a day. People who are sick, elderly, and children are particularly at risk from such weather.
