– In my opinion, there is no room for improvement today. retirement age – said the president of ZUS, Zbigniew Derdziuk in an interview with “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”. – But so that the worst-case scenario doesn't come true, we need to convince young people to stay active in their jobs for as long as possible. It's not easy to impose something administratively. The most important thing is to make people aware that working longer brings benefits – he added.
The ZUS president sees no room for raising the retirement age. But he wants us to work longer
The President of ZUS emphasized that Poland is an ageing society, so the market work fewer and fewer people are entering. He has repeatedly said that in order to ensure the efficiency of the labor market, we should work longer “regardless of whether we have reached the age that entitles us to retire.” He added that the task politician is to create a system that will encourage this.
It is necessary to convince people to be more active. This translates into better well-being and higher personal income. Not to mention the benefits for the country, whose GDP is growing.

The government also sees no room for raising the retirement age
In February 2024, Confederation MP Witold Tumanowicz asked in a parliamentary question whether the government plans to equalize the retirement age of women and men. The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy announced that it is not currently working on introducing such a reform.
On 22 February, Aleksandra Gajewska, deputy head of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, responded to MP Tumanowicz’s interpellation. The ministry representative noted that currently “there is no social consent” to introduce a reform equalizing the retirement age for women and men.
