Snowstorms have been paralyzing traffic on Iceland's roads since the beginning of the week. The most difficult situation on holidays is in the west of the country. Roads to Reykjavik are closed. We received reports from those regions on Kontakt24.

– This situation has been going on for two days. There is a lot of snow on the roads, it is very slippery and there is a strong wind – said Lestek, who has been living in Iceland for seven years, in an interview with our Reporter24 editorial office on Wednesday.

Although the situation in the country's capital is not as difficult as in other regions, the roads to it have been closed.

– I travel with tourists and we are forced to stay in the same hotel because no one can leave or arrive – said the man.

Warnings are in force in most of the country due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. Orange alerts have been issued for the western part, where the situation is the most difficult, with the exception of Reykjavik. Forecasters also warn against icy roads.

Dangerous weather conditions are expected to persist until Thursday. The services advise against traveling in the south and west of Iceland.
