There is the latest report, and in it good news – the number of deaths due to cancer is not growing as much as it used to be. It's clear to doctors. First of all, there are more and more effective drugs, and secondly – patients report to treatment earlier.
There is a chance that this huge effort that European countries put into the fight against cancer will finally begin to bring measurable results. This is what iHe reports – the Swedish Institute researching from the economic side of health.
– We have good news, because this report really shows that the dynamics of the increase in death from cancer begins to stabilize. It is still growing in Poland, but it does not grow as dynamically as it once grew – said prof. Piotr Rutkowski from the Clinic of Cancer of Soft Tissue, Bones and Chernians of the National Oncology Institute in Warsaw.
Drugs are getting more and more effectively
This shows that the European Union offers its citizens more and more effective drugs, and they are also effective because patients for treatment, thanks to preventive examinations, report earlier than they used to be. The Swedes and Danes are a role model in this regard. In Poland, journalist Aleksandra Kurowska may be as an example.
– Last year I was on a colonoscopy and the doctor did not want to order it to me. Although I had gastroscopy. Even by doing it, he said: at this age you have no indications, and so on. After which I wake up and hear: Well, now we see each other every three years, because the polyp crossed one centimeter – says Aleksandra Kurowska, editor -in -chief of the portal cowzdrowiu.pl.
It is from such polyps in the large intestine that cancer tumors form later. We will not avoid cancer, but we can limit the effects of the disease.
– In that report I noticed a record that estimated that about 30 to 50 percent of deaths can be avoided, assuming that we would use primary prevention, i.e. we will avoid cancer – says dr hab. Wojciech Rogowski, oncologist from the Pomeranian Medical University of Szczecin.
Systematic research is the most important
Janusz Krupa from Józefów near Warsaw has been struggling with colorectal cancer for two years, he is after chemotherapy. He regrets that he did not apply for a colonoscopy when he felt good and there was time for it.
– I got an invitation from the preventive program, I ignored it, and only when the bleeding began, then at this point the family doctor staged a referral – says Janusz Krupa.
Today, the patient encourages everyone to study systematically. Similar incentives flow from doctors.
Cancer. Professor Zoran Stojcev about the fear of studying Tvn24
– Therefore, an appeal: really, use preventive programs, screening, and I hope that the national oncological network will bring a colossal change in our system – appeals prof. Piotr Rutkowski.
Thanks to this, there is a chance that in the next annual report of the Swedish Institute of Economics of Poland Poland with its health data will be better than before. Not only medical staff and the Ministry of Health should fight the tumor epidemic, but we all.
