On Friday, the Sejm adopted an amendment to the law assuming for the sale of heated tobacco products with aroma. Producers and sellers will have nine months to adapt to the new law.
Amendment to the Act on health care against the consequences of using tobacco and tobacco products prohibits the placing on the market of heated tobacco products with a characteristic aroma. Manufacturers and sellers will get nine months to adapt to the new regulations. The project implements the EU directive, whose provisions of the Member State should apply from October 23, 2023.

The Sejm wants to limit e-cigarettes
According to the European Commission in recent years, the volume of sales of heated tobacco products has increased by 2009 percent, while the total amount of their share in the tobacco market in the European Union is currently at 3.33 percent.
In the Sejm, work is underway on another government draft amendment to the so -called tobacco act, which will limit the sales of e-cigarettes. The project prepared by the Ministry of Health introduces a ban on the sale of all types of electronic cigarettes and spare containers to people under 18, regardless of whether a given product has nicotine or does not have it.
In addition, the use of electronic cigarettes with non -otine fluid (secreting a couple not contributing to nicotine) will be banned in public placeswhere currently the use of electronic cigarettes with a liquid containing nicotine is forbidden. These are schools and kindergartens, public transport stops, restaurants and playgrounds for children.
In addition The sale of nicotine bags is to be banned people under 18 and their sale in entities performing medical activities, schools and educational and educational institutions, sports and recreation facilities, in vending machines and self-service systems. The project also introduces a ban on the sale of e -cigarettes without nicotine and nicotine bags at a distance – including via the Internet and a ban on advertising them.
At the beginning of February, the Health Committee decided that it would consider the draft amendment in detail at a later date, i.e. after April 28 in connection with the project referral and notification application to the European Commission.
Heated tobacco
Heated tobacco, according to the explanations posted on government pages, is one of the tobacco products present in Poland in Poland since 2017. This form is used by about four percent of adult Poles.
Some tobacco heating devices They have a size and shape similar to traditional cigarettes. They often consist of a device for heating tobacco, a battery charging element and a tobacco insert. Some may have a carbon tip wrapped in glass fibers, which the user heats with a lighter or match. Still others work by heating the fluids that produce a pair passing through the tobacco contribution to absorb the aroma and nicotine from tobacco.
The government reminds that the use of any tobacco products is harmful especially for children, young people, young adults and pregnant women. In addition, any form of delivering nicotine to the body carries the risk of addiction.
