Three men who broke into a private house in Białołęka and camped there for several days are facing up to 10 years in prison. The 32, 52 and 54-year-olds were caught thanks to neighbors who notified a relative of the property owner, who notified the police. The men were charged with burglary and home invasion.
Police officers on duty in Białołęka received a report of a burglary at the property at Modlińska Street. A relative of the house owner, who had been alerted by neighbors, was waiting for the patrollers at the scene. “The man explained to the police that someone had broken into the house, which was evidenced by damaged security measures at the entrances. Other signs that the man observed near the house could also confirm the presence of intruders inside the house,” the superintendent said. They found them in the basement
The police checked the building and confirmed that the security had been breached. Then they checked all the rooms. They found three men in the basement – 32, 52 and 54-year-old. It turned out that they had got into the house a few days ago and were “camping” there. They were detained by the police for questioning.
In turn, uniformed officers from the investigation group secured evidence at the scene to help determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
They heard the charges
The prosecutor of the Warsaw Praga Północ District Prosecutor's Office charged the three detainees with burglary and disturbing the peace, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The men were placed under police surveillance.
The police appeal: “The holiday season is upon us. Let's remember to properly secure our houses and apartments during our absence. Let's check the locks and the alarm system, if we have one. We should also inform about our departure only to relatives or trusted neighbors. We can ask them to check the house regularly during our absence.”
