Game Radomiak Radom – Śląsk Wrocław promised to be one of the hits of 1/16 final Polish Cup. This is because only this pair featured two teams from the Ekstraklasa, although both from the bottom of the table (13th place from Radom and 17th place from Wrocław). Ultimately, one of them turned out to be clearly better.
Śląsk Wrocław and Radomiak Radom fought in the Polish Cup. The central defender showed off his offensive play
Already in the first dozen or so minutes, both teams had a good chance to take the lead. Tommaso Guercio and Jakub Świerczok threatened Radomiak's goal, and Joao Puglow and Vagner Dias responded to their shots.
At the end of the first half, Piotr Samiec-Talar and Aleksander Paluszek began to seriously threaten the hosts. The midfielder scored from set pieces, and the stopper took header shots. The first time, Maciej Kikolski made an effective intervention, but the second time the 23-year-old was unstoppable and Śląsk went into the break with an advantage.
Śląsk Wrocław defeated Radomiak Radom and advanced to the 1/8 finals of the Polish Cup
From the beginning of the second part, the match was still open. And in the 56th minute, Świerczok could have scored an out-of-this-world goal, as he spotted Kikolski and took a shot from his own half – the ball narrowly missed Radomiak's goal. After a while, the striker tried again, this time from the opponents' penalty area, but he lacked precision and the goalkeeper hit the ball.
Świerczok was ineffective, so Paluszek had to take the initiative again. And after Petr Schwarz's cross, he headed the ball on target for the second time in this match, increasing the score to 2-0 for the Wrocław team.
As if that wasn't enough, after a while Świerczok was able to beat Radomiak's goalkeeper. How did it end? – Kikolski is even better than the very ineffective Śląsk striker today! The guests should already have the promotion in their pocket – commented TVP Sport commentators. Radomiak was becoming more and more helpless and could have lost another goal after a shot by Sylvester Jasper.
Just over a quarter of an hour before the end, the hosts were defeated by substitute Sebastian Musiolik. After a sloppy play by Raphael Rossi, Peter Pokorny got the ball and quickly played to the striker. He had plenty of space, so he calmly took the shot and hit the crossbar of Radomiak's goal. At the end, Guilherme Zimovski could have reduced the scale of the defeat, but he headed straight at Rafał Leszczyński. – If Świerczok was effective, Radomiak would be demolished here. It's a very bitter evening in Radom – summed up the commentators.
