American football is a sport that – although young – is gaining more and more popularity in Poland. One of the clubs playing on the Vistula River is Warsaw Eagles, which won the Polish championship in July this year. In the decisive match, they defeated Lowlanders Białystok. Unfortunately, one of the players from the capital team will never taste victory again.
Tragedy in the USA. A young Polish athlete has died
“Antek… this is how your American adventure was supposed to end. It lasted too short…” – we read on the Warsaw Eagles Facebook profile. The club has just announced the death of its player on social media.
The young football player was in the United States, where he was preparing to play for Culver Stockton College – an academic American football team.
“Thank you for every game with the Eagles, for your smile, sense of humor, for amazing touchdown passes, for every game we won thanks to you. Thank you for being our friend and you will always remain so. We will meet again to throw together ball. You left suddenly, too quickly…” added Warsaw Eagles, while expressing condolences to the deceased player's relatives, including his mother, Ewa.
The death of a young athlete is also a shock in the media space. – One of the absolute best American football players of the young generation, QB Antoni Wróbel, is dead… Something terrible. He followed his dreams and everything ended so brutally… – this is what Karol Potaś, a Polsat Sport commentator and head of NFL Polska, wrote on the X website.
The website muddyriversports.com reported that Wróbel died as a result of a motorcycle accident.
