The new tram route to Miasteczko Wilanów has been operating for two weeks. Tram lines 14 and 16 appeared. Further changes to the capital's transport system will be introduced on Saturday, November 16. Before traveling, it is worth checking the new timetable.
The first tram to Wilanów, line 16, started on the new route on October 29 at 4:33 in the morning. On the same day – after over 50 years, the “fourteen” returned to Wilanów (although to a different place).
During the first week, almost half a million people rode trams on these lines. The appearance of new connections on the transport map of Warsaw will result in further changes in the organization of the capital's public transport. And this is from Saturday, November 16.
– We are gradually introducing changes to the communication system that will allow us to fully use the potential of the new route and bus connections. More effective and efficient tram connections have replaced some of the existing bus lines, whose routes coincide with the new tram route. We will provide access to trams from housing estates that are not located directly on the new route – including: Bernardyńska and Zawodzia, Zawad and Kępa Zawadowska housing estates – explains Katarzyna Strzegowska, director of the Public Transport Authority.
Buses on line 522 and trams on line 35 are no longer on the route. From November 16, buses on lines 200, 264, 339, 379 will stop running and their routes will be taken over by other lines. Buses of the new line 130 will be on the route, which will cover a street not previously serviced by WTP, i.e. Ludwik Idzikowskiego. This will be the easiest access to the new tram route and trams on Puławska Street and the M1 metro line from the housing estates located along Idzikowskiego Street and from the estate. Bernardyńska.
New routes and corrections
New routes will be added to lines 107 and 108. The first one will run through al. Gen. W. Sikorski and al. Wilanowska to the Wilanowska metro station, and the second one along R. Statkowskiego and Gołkowska streets to the end of Stegna. Until permanent traffic organization is introduced in Stegny, buses 108 will continue to run on a temporarily shortened route – between pl. Trzech Krzyży and Łososiowa Street in Siekierki. In turn, between Ananasowa Street in Siekierki and św. Bonifacego, Z-8 buses will run along R. Statkowskiego and Gołkowska streets. In the case of lines 119, 159, 217, the changes introduced during the construction of the tram to Wilanów have proven effective – the current routes will become permanent routes for buses of these lines. Buses from line 251 will go to Konstancin in selected routes instead of line 200.
Buses of line 131 will go through Czerniakowska and Powiśle to Aleje Jerozolimskie – a part of the former route is now served by trams of line 11. Buses of line 13 will pass through the Powsin estate and reach the metro station in Kabaty, along the way providing access to the school at M. Zaruby Street, as requested by the residents and councilors of the Ursynów district. Lines 163 and 164 together will provide service to Sytej Street and the housing estates in Zawady, as well as access to the M1 metro line and trams: 163 will connect to the Imielin and Wilanowska stations and trams in al. Rzeczypospolitej, on Jana III Sobieskiego and Puławska streets; 164 and to the Wilanowska metro and trams to Jana III Sobieskiego and Puławska. The role of line 163 in Zawady will be taken over by buses number 263, which will connect Zawady with the Wilanów loop.
Buses 192 will no longer reach the Wilanowska metro station (on this section of the route the number of passengers was minimal), but to Krasnowola. On the way from Kabaty, buses will continue to run in a “zigzag” pattern, picking up passengers and going to subsequent metro stations: Kabaty, Natolin, Imielin and Stokłosy. Thanks to this, it was possible to “move” line 239, whose buses will serve the Powsin estate (along Przyczółkowa Street), and then go through S. Korbońskiego to the metro station in Kabaty. Line 239 will also replace 264 in the eastern part of Powsin and in Okrzeszyn and Kępa Okrzewska, connecting these areas directly with the Kabaty metro station.
Changes also in Śródmieście
Buses from line 517 will run between the Ursus-Niedźwiadek estate and pl. Trzech Krzyży (the 131 will go to Powiśle), and the routes of lines 518 and 520 will be slightly adjusted in Śródmieście – 518 will go to Bielańska and 520 to the Central Station. Buses no. 519 will start running from Powsin to the Wilanowska metro station and, together with bus no. 251 (on a common section of routes, they will arrive at the stops alternately) and no. 164 and 217, they will provide frequent access to the Wilanowska metro station (217 also to the Imielin station).
ZTM will also introduce minor adjustments to the routes of lines 724 and 742 – to speed up access to the metro station for residents of towns near Warsaw. A direct connection between Powsin (Przyczółkowa Street) and the nearest metro station (Kabaty) will be provided by buses no. 139 and 239, coordinated with each other.
Buses of the E-2 line will run only in the morning peak, when the number of passengers is the highest – they will provide direct access from Wilanów and Dolny Mokotów to pl. Zamkowy. However, buses 319 through the three districts of Wawer – Wilanów – Ursynów will run on weekdays, also during inter-peak hours.
