Ukrainian military intelligence reported that the head of security at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant was killed in an attack in the city of Enerhodar, Zaporizhia Oblast. The facility has been occupied by Russians since March 2022, and the man who died allegedly cooperated with them voluntarily.

Ukrainian military intelligence reported that the assassination of the head of security at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant occupied by Russian forces took place on Thursday morning. “In the city of Enerhodar, a car was blown up in which the war criminal Andriy Korotkyj, a collaborator responsible for the repression against Ukrainians, was staying,” the Ukrainians reported.

Military intelligence reported that after the seizure of the Zaporozhye power plant in early March 2022, Korotkyj was to voluntarily cooperate with the Russians and provide them with lists of the plant's employees, indicating which of them had pro-Ukrainian views.

The intelligence service did not directly say that he was behind the attack, but the entry included a sentence saying that “every war criminal will face a just punishment.”

The Investigative Committee of Russia launched an investigation

The Russian Investigative Committee announced that an investigation into the attack had been initiated. The committee reported that an explosive device was planted in the car of a power plant employee, parked near a house on Chestnut Boulevard in Enerhodar. The explosion occurred while driving, and Korotkyj died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Korotkyj was previously the chairman of the Enerhodar city council, appointed by the Russian authorities.

A statement appeared on the website of the occupied power plant in which the Russians accuse the Ukrainian side of organizing the attack.
