Possible Western response to Pyongyang's move

The US administration estimates that this contingent will probably support the Russians in the Kursk Oblast. However, despite information provided by the Ukrainian authorities that North Korean soldiers are already in the combat zone, neither Singh nor State Department spokesman Matthew Miller confirmed these reports.

However, they estimated that the number of troops sent by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un may increase “as Vladimir Putin's desperation grows.”

Miller said that the US is in talks with Ukrainians and allies about how to respond to North Korea's move, but noted that he would not comment publicly on the content and effects of these talks.
