“An agreement behind which nothing stands is an agreement that Putin breaks”
He stipulated that it was not certain whether there would be a truce between Russia and Ukraine, but he assured that the partners of the latter of the so -called Coalitions willing “take steps in the right direction”, especially since it is time to develop action plans “now”, and not after reaching an agreement on the suspension of weapons.
– It is extremely important that we do this work now, because one we know for sure – an agreement behind which nothing stands is an agreement that Putin will break – Starmer emphasized at the end of the meeting, which took place from the military base in Northwood near London.

Earlier on Thursday, Starmer emphasized that the United Kingdom and his allies must be ready to react quickly if Ukraine concludes a truce with Russia.
Our plans are focused on ensuring safety in the air, at sea and on land in Ukraine and on cooperation with Ukrainians, and “if there is any agreement, you will have to defend him, because in the past there were agreements that did not contain security guarantee, and Vladimir Putin did not follow them” – added the prime minister.
In this way, Starmer referred to the main topic of the Thursday EU summit in Brussels, i.e. the issue of defense and help for Ukraine.
As Bloomberg announced on Thursday evening, citing diplomatic sources, politicians from Poland, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and Canada were invited to Paris for the next week. They are to talk to the French about help for Ukraine and scenarios regarding the potential course of the peace process.
