Ukraine-Russia, an attack on the Engels airport, where rockets were stored

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that at night from Wednesday to Thursday the Security Service Units Ukraine and forces of Special Operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out an attack on the Engels airport in the Saratian region in Russia.

There was a fire at the airport, and ammunition explosions and detonations were also recorded.

The Engels airport is located about 700 kilometers from the front line. Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers are stationed there, launching rockets towards Ukraine. This object was the target of Ukrainian forces several times.

The pro-Kymian channel on the telegram “Crimean Wind” reported on Friday that at the time of the latest attack at the airport there could be five strategic bombers: three Tu-95MS and two Tu-160. “At least two crew members of one of the aircraft were killed,” wrote “Crimean wind”, citing their own sources.

“As a result of the impact, the Russians lost rockets, including the CH-101. The number will be known later,” wrote Andrij Kałaenko, head of the Government Center for Counteracting Disinformation.

The Ukrainian war reporter Andrij Caplijenko wrote on a telegram that on Wednesday morning an IL-76 aircraft landed at Engels, probably providing a new batch of Ch-101 missiles for strategic aviation. “After hitting and detonating the shards (rockets – ed.), They fell apart within a radius of about five kilometers, which increased the likelihood of damage to the bombers stationed there,” he said.

The well -known Kiev military analyst Wałerij Romanenko, citing his own sources, revealed more about the impact. “Drones attacked the Engels airport after the Russians set 60 containers with rockets on the open ground, as the Ukrainian defense forces learned about,” said the Ukrainian agency Unian Romanenko. He reminded that ammunition or fuel compositions are elements of every military airport. Engels is the base for Tu-160 and TU-95MS aircraft and Tu-22M3 bombers, which is why maneuvering shells and air bombs were stored here. – The Russians set up over 60 containers on the square near magazines – said the expert. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow reported on Thursday that above the Saratian district, Russian air defense shot down 54 unmanned aerial vehicles.
