Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on Monday evening about North Korea's “actual entry into Russia's war against Ukraine”. This was one of the topics of the meeting with Ukrainian commanders and intelligence chiefs.
– Among the main topics was an intelligence report by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and (military intelligence) HUR on Russia's plans for the fall and winter. Everything quite detailed. North Korea's actual entry into the war, Zelensky said in his daily video address. He added that the talks also covered “Russians' relations with some other countries that, unfortunately, are investing in prolonging the war.”
Zelensky did not elaborate on North Korea's involvement in the war.
ISW: Thousands of North Korean soldiers undergo training in Russia
On Sunday, as the media recalled, the President of Ukraine said that relations between Moscow and Pyongyang were becoming closer.
– It's not just about transferring weapons anymore. In fact, it is about handing over people from North Korea to the occupying military forces, Zelensky said.
“Thousands of North Korean soldiers are undergoing training in Russia and it is likely that these troops will be deployed to Ukraine,” wrote the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on Saturday, citing the Washington Post.
A representative of Ukrainian military intelligence quoted by the newspaper said that there are North Korean officers in the country who are observing Russian forces and analyzing the battlefield in the territories occupied by Russia. However, Ukraine has not yet detected any North Korean military units actively operating on its territory.
