It is very windy in the north of Poland. Warnings from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management are in force in four voivodeships. The wind can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.
So far on Friday, the strongest wind gusts were recorded in Łebawhere the wind was blowing at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour. IN Hel and Gdańsk gusts amounted to 80 km/h, w Ustka – 76 km/h, in Lębork – 68 km/h, in Elbląg, Suwałki and Płock – 65 km/h.
Second degree IMWM warnings – strong wind
Orange warnings apply in the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin Sławno County;
- Pomeranianin the following poviats: Słupsk, SłupskLębork, Wejherowo, Puck, Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia.;
- Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin the following counties: Elbląg, Elbląg, Braniewo, Bartoszyce, Kętrzyn, Węgorzewo, Gołdap, Olecko;
- Podlasiein the following counties: Suwałki, Suwałki, Sejny, Augustów.
Strong winds with an average speed of up to 50-55 km/h, gusts of up to 95-100 km/h, from the west and north-west are forecast. Warnings in the province in West Pomerania and Pomerania will be valid until midnight on Saturday, and in Warmia and Masuria and Podlasie will expire at 3 on Saturday.
IMWM first degree warnings – strong wind
The lowest, first degree warnings apply to the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipcounties: Świnoujście, Kamieński, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Koszalin, Koszalin;
- Pomeraniancentral counties;
- Podlasiecentral counties;
- Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipexcept for poviats covered by higher level warnings and poviats: Nidzica, Nowe Miasto and Działdowo.
In these regions, winds are expected to blow at an average speed of up to 40 km/h, with gusts of up to 75 km/h, from the west. Warnings in the province Pomeranian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships will cease to apply at 10 p.m. on Friday, and in other regions they will remain in force until 3 on Saturday.
What is a second degree IMWM warning?
The second level warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit business activity. Expect disruptions to your daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, it is necessary to monitor the weather forecasts and developments. Follow all recommendations issued by emergency services in the event of an emergency. What is a first-degree IMWM warning?
The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life.
