The United States does not have honest commercial relations with the European Union they deserve – wrote on the portal X Tom Rose, nominated by Donald Trump on the US ambassador in Poland. In the entry he also referred to the words of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, who stated that not all Americans “understand what the EU is about”.

“Certainly there is a lot of truth in the recent remarks of Mr. Sikorski (…) that there are many things that Americans do not understand in the EU, and I am certainly one of those Americans who have to learn a lot,” Rose wrote in the post on Portal X.

“However, President Trump and the American people understand one thing: The United States does not enjoy honest and fair trade relationswhich we deserve. Just as the EU rightly puts his interests in the first place, President (Donald) Trump does nothing else, putting America's interests first, “he added.

“When Radek says, people should listen”

The nominee of President Trump referred to the words Radosław Sikorskiwhich were fallen in a Monday interview with Polsat. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the earlier statement of Rose, before the announcement of his nomination, in which the American seemed to suggest that Poland must choose whether he wants to “approach the center of power in the European Union” or “remain a sovereign, proud country that meets its own allied obligations “.

– The matter is very serious, because I have an impression, and even knowledge that in USA Not everyone understands what the EU is about – said Sikorski.

Rose in Tuesday's post on X praised the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as “brilliant and highly respected” diplomat and stated that “when Radek Sikorski says, people should listen to him.”

“In addition to being a great Polish patriot, it is also one of the most experienced and thinking statesmen on the European stage. There is certainly a lot of truth in the recent observations of Mr. Sikorski,” he wrote.

He added that European Union “He creates an uneven field of competition for American companies.” He complained not only of the duties on American goods, but also to other trade barriers such as VAT (and the fact that European exporters can apply for its return), favoring European companies in public procurement, or European extended emission standards, medication approval and data protection, which in his opinion exist in order to limit the influence and capabilities of American companies in these areas.

EU requirements and USA

“Almost every week, Americans read in local newspapers articles about fines that the EU imposes on our technology companies, accusing them of violations of antitrust law and imposing penalties in the amount of many billion dollars” – wrote Rose.

He expressed the hope that “at the forefront of Poland”, the USA and the Union would be able to “establish fair and fair trade relations”. “The European Union and the United States would be an unstoppable force that will create a better, healthier, richer, more free and safer world,” he concluded.

Rose's criticism repeats many of the arguments often cited by President Trump, who for years claimed that the Union has treated the US dishonestly, and even worse than America's enemies. This week, Trump announced the imposition of duties to level out the level of duties in mutual trade, which will probably also mean an increase in customs duties on EU goods. On Monday, Trump announced 25 % Cutches on the import of steel and aluminum, whose Union is the third largest supplier.
