The sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his campaign on Friday and endorsed Donald Trump, has slammed his actions. Kerry Kennedy, speaking on MSNBC, “completely disassociated” herself from her brother’s move, calling it a “betrayal of their family values.” She also pledged her support for the Harris-Walz duo.
Independent candidate for President of the United States Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his election campaign on Friday. The politician announced that he would remove his name from the ballots in 10 states, which – as he assessed – will be crucial to the election results. He also gave his support to the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump. He previously suggested that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a lawyer known for his anti-vaccination views, he could get a position in his office.
Kennedy's younger sister Kerry publicly condemned the movement. She said on MSNBC that she was “outraged and disgusted by her brother's vociferous and obscene support of Donald Trump.” “I completely disassociate myself and distance myself from Robert Kennedy Jr. in this blatant and inexplicable attempt to desecrate and trample on the memory of our father,” added the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy. Robert F. Kennedy, nicknamed RFK, was a politician, attorney general of the United States (1961-1964), senator of the state of New York (1965-1968), younger brother of the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy. He was shot on June 5, 1968 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles shortly after giving a speech celebrating his victory in the Democratic presidential primaries in California. He died the next day.
Kerry Kennedy on Donald Trump
During her visit to MSNBC, Kerry Kennedy also emphasized who she personally supports. “The stakes in the November election could not be higher, which is why my entire family will be fighting to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, who are defenders of the values that my family has fought for over the years,” the 64-year-old said. She described Donald Trump as the “complete opposite” of those values.
“(Donald Trump) is a threat to most of the fundamental freedoms that are the foundation of who we are as Americans: the right of women to control our bodies, the right to live in communities free from gun violence, the right to love the people we love,” Kennedy added. She said her father, Robert F. Kennedy, “would have hated almost everything Trump stands for.” Kennedy also said she thinks Donald Trump is “incredibly dangerous.”
RFK's daughter spoke out in a similar tone on Friday on Platform X. In a statement issued jointly with her four siblings, she described Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s support of Donald Trump as a “betrayal of the values held dear by her father and the rest of her family.” “This is a sad ending to a sad story,” Kerry Kennedy added.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Campaign
The Kennedy family traditionally supports the Democratic Party. Initially, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also intended to run for president on the Democratic Party's behalf. Later, however, he decided to run for president as an independent candidate. At the beginning of the campaign, he enjoyed support reaching up to 20 percent. The last polls predicted that it would achieve a result of several percent.
This decline was, among other things, the result of the media disclosing and recalling scandals involving his participation, including accusations of sexual harassment of women, abandoning the body of a dead bear in New York's Central Park or eating a dog in South Korea. Kennedy has struggled with heroin addiction in the past and has said that Doctors found a “worm” in his skullwho “ate a piece of his brain”. He expressed anti-vaccination views, and in the presidential campaign he strongly opposed aid for Ukraineclaiming that the Russian invasion was the result of a US provocation.
