US President Joe Biden voted for Kamala Harris in the presidential election in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. After casting his vote, he spoke to journalists. He criticized Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
In the state of Delaware, voting in the elections before the election date (November 5) has been possible for three days. The incumbent president showed up at the office in Wilmington before noon and joined a line of about 50 people. Among the crowd of voters was a man wearing a red cap with a vulgar sign calling for votes for Trump.
Biden on Musk and North Korea
After casting his vote, Biden was greeted with applause and answered journalists' questions.
Asked about Trump-supporting billionaire Elon Musk handing out millions of dollars to voters in key states, Biden said it was “totally inappropriate.” On Monday, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office filed a lawsuit in this case, and earlier the federal prosecutor's office warned Musk that the practice may violate election law.
He was also asked about North Korea sending thousands of troops to Russiaprobably to fight against Ukraine. Biden called it “very dangerous” and seemed to criticize Trump's alleged hidden contacts with Putin.
– The very idea that Kamala's opponent (Harris) is talking to Putin and discussing what should be done… – Biden said, without finishing the sentence.
Journalist Bob Woodward wrote in his book “War” that Trump spoke secretly with Putin several times after leaving the White House. Trump's staff and the Kremlin denied that such talks took place, but Trump himself only said that he would not comment on it, adding that if he talked to Putin it would be a “smart thing.”
Americans are taking advantage of the opportunity to vote early
Biden is one of more than 44 million Americans who have already taken advantage of early voting. 60 million people applied to take advantage of this opportunity – in person or by correspondence. In the record year of 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, 101 million out of over 150 million election participants voted this way. This time the proportion will probably be smaller, even though both parties encouraged early voting. Four years earlier, Republicans discouraged their voters from using this method.
