Donald Trump's victory has been formalized. After the electors cast their votes, the Republican leader was formally elected president of the United States. According to state-by-state results, Trump received 312 electoral votes and Kamala Harris received 226. Each state's votes will then be sent to Congress.
Although Donald Trump won the November 5 election, his victory only now being formalized as electors gathered to officially elect the president during the Electoral College.
Electors chosen during the November election convened on Tuesday in each of the 50 states and the District Colombiato formally elect a new president. This year's voting by the College was carried out in accordance with the voting results in individual states – the candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, received 312 votes, and the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris – 226. The last vote took place in Hawaii on Wednesday at 1 a.m. Polish time, where the last four electors cast their votes for Kamala Harris.
Each state's votes will then be sent to Congress. And lawmakers will meet in a joint session on Jan. 6 to formally tally the votes and declare Trump president and J.D. Vance vice president USA.
Trump and Vance will take office at noon on January 20, 2025.
