President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Friday. The head of the German government announced another package of military support for Kiev. During his visit to Germany, Zelensky will also meet with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Chancellor German Olaf Scholz announced on Friday military aid for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 600 million, and also announced a military aid package worth EUR 1.4 billion, which Germany and its allies are to deliver to Kiev by the end of the year.
At a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Scholz said the announcement sent a signal to the Russian leader Vladimir Putinthat the West will not stop supporting Ukraine.
Allied summit postponed
Zelensky was originally supposed to come to Germany to take part in the summit of Ukraine's allies at the Ramstein base scheduled for Saturday, but it was postponed to another date because the president USA Joe Biden canceled his arrival in Europe.
The reason for the cancellation of the visit was Hurricane Milton, which passed through Florida on Wednesday night. Biden announced that he would try to “work out” another date for his visit, but it has not been set yet.
