The spokesman spoke about the current front-line situation in the Donetsk Oblast on Radio Svoboda United Assault Brigade “Lut” Artem Jepko. The Ukrainian revealed that Russian soldiers were able to break through to the mine located in the center of the town within a few hours.
– There are Russian soldiers in the city, there is no point in saying otherwise, it's true. They went down Centralna Street and reached the mine – he revealed.
Jepko emphasized that the situation in Torećko is very dynamic. Urban combat is extremely difficult and exhausting for both sides.
– It happened that In the tenement house we are on the first floor and the Russians are on the second floor and we are trying to hit them. That's why it's hard to describe. Not because I don't want to say it, but because the situation is dynamic. Now there might be two or three apartment buildings that they occupy, and an hour later they're gone, he explained.
War in Ukraine. Russian troops on the offensive
According to the spokesman of the United Assault Brigade, the capture of Torećko by the Russians would pose a serious threat to the entire Slavic-Kramator direction. Therefore, reserves will most likely be brought to the town to stop further Russian attacks.
– They will attack towards Konstantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Slovianska. Russian forces will also attack these cities. We understand this perfectly and we try to prevent itc – he said.
The high pace of the Russian attack is evidenced by, among other things, statements spokesman for the operational-tactical group “Luhansk” by Anastasia Bobovnikova. Just a dozen or so hours earlier, a soldier of the Armed Forces Ukrainy reported that Russian units had entered the eastern outskirts of Toretsk.
– There are fights literally at every entrance (…) The situation is constantly changing, we repel their firing points, then they destroy ours somewhere, but we are constantly restoring positions and trying to return what the occupiers took, she claimed.
