Residents want to broaden the transition to the Kabacki Forest in the area of the Metro Technical and Station. Only slim people can squeeze through a narrow isthmus. There is no way to get there with a pram or bike. The idea appeared in this year's edition of the civic budget.

The western end of the Technical and Postojowa Station of the Metro borders on a private property. Between two fences there is a tight, approximately 30-centimeter gap, enabling the transition from the housing estates at Blastowa, Ustronie or Wilcza to the Kabacki Forest. This is the shortest, though unofficial path. Another option is to cover about one and a half kilometers along nearby streets to get to the nearest public entrance to the forest.

Since the middle of last year, residents are more likely to use a tight isthmus, because the district opened the path along the Warsaw metro fence. Another new housing estate also appeared nearby, which meant that there were more walkers in the area.

Fence to be moved

One of the residents of Ursynów submitted a project to expand the transition to the civic budget. As he notes, the path leading along the metro wall ends with a “broken” between two fences. “A slim person may squeeze there. You can't move a bicycle, a bicycle or a stroller” – he describes in the content of the project.

The man explains that the goal of the project is to move “literally by a meter” of one of the fences. “Ursynów District – if this project is voted in the civic budget – it will be able to negotiate and finance or co -finance such an undertaking with the Metro Warsaw company belonging to the city” – he emphasizes.

The author of the project has already consulted his idea with the Warsaw subway. “The company admitted that the movement of the wall is technically possible, calculating the costs of operations at PLN 200,000, which, however, has no money” – writes in the content of the project.

He still indicates that it would also be necessary to make a about 50-meter pedestrian route that would lead to the transition through the tracks.

The spokeswoman for the Warsaw Metro Anna Bartoń confirms that the company gave opinions on the presented project. She also explained to our editorial office what should be done to make a wider passage to the STP Kabaty fence. – It would be necessary to change the location of the wall by “cutting” the existing corner in order to enable the location of a pedestrian pavement in this place. This solution requires the demolition of an existing wall and the construction of a fragment of a new fence above 2.2 meters high – she described.

Conducting such an investment is associated with the need to obtain relevant building permits.

You have to build a crossing through the tracks

The undertaking will also be associated with the need to ensure a safe pedestrian crossing through the metro siding track. It is used to transport equipment and new trains, so traffic in this place is negligible.

– The consequence of determining such a transition is the determination of an entity responsible, among others, for its ongoing maintenance – reserves Anna Bartoń.

And he adds that such a transition is possible, provided that it is built at a distance of at least 50 meters from the entrance semaphore located at the entrance gate. – It is necessary to maintain pedestrian safety in the implementation of railway vehicles on the track connecting STP Kabaty with the PKP Warszawa Okęcie station – explains the spokeswoman.

Residents will decide

Officials decided that the idea of a resident of Ursynów would be possible to implement.

– The project was allowed to vote. Voting will take place in the first half of June. The results will be known on July 1 – Paweł Ciach, spokesman for the Ursynów District Office, told our editorial office.

The project is in the local projects section. Officials estimated the cost of its implementation at PLN 480,000.

The case was described as the first portal haloursynów.pl.
