Activists of the last generation blocked the route of the Gdańsk Bridge in the area of ​​the Starzyński roundabout. Ten people entered one, two stuck. The police intervened. Then they moved to the S8 route. – They arrived. The entire road has been closed – reports tvnwarszawa.pl reporter.

We asked the police about the course of the blockade. – About ten people entered the road. Two people stuck to her. The police took action against them. All people have already been removed from the road. After 9.25 the movement was resumed – said Bartłomiej Śniadała from the Warsaw Police Headquarters. The officers are still conducting activities with these people.

There was Mateusz Mzyk, a reporter of tvnwarszawa.pl. – The police cars are on the pavement, the road is no longer blocked. Cars slow down due to the high presence of the police – reported the reporter. The emergency crew was also present.

Then the activists moved to another place. – They blocked the S8 route at the Rembielińska height towards the Grota-Rowecki bridge. Activists arrived. The entire driving was closed, the traffic is conducted by a part of the conventions – reported Mżyk.

Why are activists protesting?

For several weeks, activists have been organizing blockages on Warsaw streets. It was nervous last Friday, when the last generation blocked the S8 route at Marymont. Drivers tried to download the participants of the protest from the road. One of the drivers also used pepper spray.

The spokeswoman for the last generation Martyna Leśniak previously announced in an interview with our editors that in the coming days further blockades would be organized. – We are waiting all the time and we are open to any reaction from the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski – she noted.

Activists explain the blockades by the fact that the capital's president ignored their demands. “The last generation gave a choice to Rafał Trzaskowski, the leader of the presidential race and the President of Warsaw: either the ahead of the postulates fighting with transport exclusion and will organize a meeting with the prime minister, or in his city there will be protests in the fire of the presidential campaign. He had time for this until May 4. Rafał Trzaskowski chose protests. Therefore, today dozens of people from all over Poland are marching through the bridges in the center of Warsaw” – stated in a statement.

The last generation from the beginning has two main demands: the transfer of funds planned for the expansion of highways and expressways for regional and local public transport, creating a monthly ticket for PLN 50 for regional and local transport.
