A bearded dragon surprised a resident of Warsaw's Bielany district who was out for a walk with her dog. The exotic animal was tracked down by the quadruped in a park. The reptile was taken care of by city guards.
A resident of the Słodowiec housing estate went out with her dog to the park on Perzyńskiego Street. During the walk, the woman noticed the dog behaving strangely.
When she approached him, she noticed that he had spied a large lizard in the grass. The reptile was light in color and had numerous thorns on its body. The woman called the city guards, who explained that it was an adult bearded dragon.
Eco-patrol officers placed the lizard in a container and transported it to the CITES Centre at the Warsaw Zoo.
It may be scary, but it is harmless.
The bearded dragon is found only in Australia. Although its appearance may be off-putting, it is actually a completely harmless animal to humans. It can climb very well, which is why it is found both on land and on rock formations, trees and shrubs. It is a popular reptile kept in terrariums.
They usually run on all fours, but they can also run on two. They do this when they feel threatened or when chasing prey. Adults can run at speeds of up to 14 kilometers per hour.
