Visualization of the tram route on the section from Rakowiecka to Stegien

In connection with the construction of a new section of the tram route on Rakowiecka Street, tramwajars announce major changes in the organization of traffic in Mokotów. From the last weekend of April, trams will not run through the Independence Avenue and the streets: Rakowiecka, Saint. Andrzej Bobola and Wołoska. At this time, drivers will only take one road of Aleja Niepodległości.

In less than three weeks, building a tram route on Rakowiecka Street – between Puławska and Aleja Niepodległości – will enter the new phase. The contractor will start work on the construction of a turnout at the intersection with Aleja Niepodległości.

The new section of the track on Rakowiecka Street, which is part of the route to Wilanów, will increase the flexibility of the tram network. It will allow you to travel by tram, among others from Sielce, Stegien or Wilanów in the SGH region, Pole Mokotowskie metro station and the Aleja Niepodległości. This is part of the establishment of the peripheral connection between the districts of Warsaw.

Difficulties and detours

From the last weekend of April, the western road of Aleja Niepodległości (towards Ursynów) will be closed, on the section from Stefana Batory Street to Narbutt. Movement towards the center will be conducted with two lanes on the eastern road. The third lane will lead the other way, but will be reserved for buses, admitted vehicles (DOP) and vehicles commuting to the property located along Aleja Niepodległości. A detour for other drivers was marked along two routes: Stefana Batory Street to Puławska and Batory to Wołoska.

Such an organization of traffic will apply until the turn of July and August. The traffic will be launched between the roads al. Independence as the works progress. Important restrictions on the band's capacity will persist until the end of the year.

Tram movement will stop the picnic

The implementation of a new tram traffic organization will be divided into several stages. First – from April 26 to May 4 – trams' movement will be suspended during Aleja Niepodległości, Rakowiecka, Saint. Bobola and Wołoska from Nowowiejska to Woronicz. At that time, work will be carried out on the installation of an overlay turnout over the Pole Mokotowskie metro station, renovation of switches at the Kielce loop, as well as repairing the tram track at the intersections of Wołoska from Dąbrowski and Kulski.

Running trams lines 14 and 71 will be suspended. The route of trams 17 will change – they will reach the town of Wilanów. The route from the intersection of Aleja Niepodległości and Nowowiejska will lead through Nowowiejska, Marszałkowska, Puławska, Goworka, Spacerowa, Belvedere, Jan III Sobieski and Aleja Rzeczpospolita. Trams of line 33 will be directed to Narutowicza Square – from Aleja Niepodległości they will turn to Nowowiejska Street and go Krzywickiego and Filter. Trams 31 will run throughout all days of the week (they currently go on the route only on weekdays); During rush hour, they will appear at stops more often than in the current schedule.

The bus route 119 will be extended to Plac Konstytucji – buses will go straight along Puławska and then Waryńskiego Street. The buses of the Z -1 replacement line will start – between the Central Station and JP Woronicza Street along the streets (in both directions): Aleja Jana Pawła II, T. Chałubiński, Aleja Niepodległości, Stefan Batory, Saint. A. Boboli, Wołoska.

Trams will partly come back. When?

The tram traffic will return partly to Aleja Niepodległości and Wołoska, Saint. Boboli and Rakowiecka from Monday, May 5. From the center of the trams will reach the Pole Mokotowskie metro station, where they will turn back thanks to overlay switches. From the side of Służewiec, the movement will be preserved to the Kielce loop. Trams will turn back unusual here, because they will ride the loop “back”. Thanks to this, the tramless section has been shortened and the service of all stops will be maintained.

Trams of line 17 will commute on their permanent route from Winnica to the Pole Mokotowskie metro station. Trams 77 will appear on Wołoska and Rakowiecka Streets, which will travel on the route PKP Służewiec – Kielecka. “Fourteen” will go on the tracks again, line 31 will run on all days of the week. Z-1 buses will continue to run, but on a slightly changed route-between the Pole Mokotowskie metro station and Woronicza Street. Changed bus routes 119 and trams 33 and suspension of line 71 will be maintained.

The next changes in tram traffic will be in August: then work will be carried out on connecting the traction network, as well as renovation of the track at the intersection of Aleja Niepodległości and Aleja Armii Ludowej. This will cause a break in the trams between Nowowiejska and Kielecka Loop, and in the following weeks – to Woronicza Street. Tram communication on the route of Niepodległości, Rakowiecka, Saint. Bobola and Wołoska will be fully restored in September.

A new tram section on Rakowiecka

The entire new section of the track in ul. Rakowiecka is about one kilometer. Last year, a turnout was made at the intersection of Puławska and Rakowiecka. Work on connecting the overhead contact line remained to be carried out.

At the moment, construction and finishing of the track from Puławska to Sandomierska are underway. In the further episode – to Aleja Niepodległości – a collision is being rebuilt. Work on the target road system also started. The new tram route should be launched by the end of the year.
