For the first time this season, sand spreaders hit the streets of Warsaw. There may be some light rain until noon. 42 sand spreaders clear the streets of snow.
The first sand spreaders started hitting the capital's streets at 2:55. They operate on 240 kilometers of roads. 42 sand spreaders work on bridges, viaducts and steep streets, such as Książęca and Dolna.
For Warsaw city cleaning services, winter began in mid-October. From that moment on, for half a year, there is a 24-hour readiness of companies commissioned by the City Cleaning Authority to clear snow and protect streets, pedestrian areas and bicycle routes against slippery conditions. The City Cleaning Authority is only responsible for the streets where city buses run. These are part of Warsaw's roads, the rest are managed by, among others, district offices or the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. “ZOM checks the condition of road surfaces and sidewalks 24 hours a day. It monitors meteorological data and weather forecasts. If necessary, it will order further actions,” the above-mentioned statement said.
There may be some snowfall until midday
It will be cloudy in Warsaw on Thursday. Until noon maybe snowing intermittently. The minimum temperature will be 2 degrees C. Moderate and quite strong winds will blow from the west. The pressure is rising, at noon the barometers will show 984 hectopascals.
Air humidity will be from 80 to about 90 percent. Due to strong wind gusts and high humidity, we will feel cold throughout the country. The weather will adversely affect our well-being.
