The autumn edition of the Warsaw Movement Research allowed the transport customs of almost 19,000 inhabitants of 52 communes of the Warsaw Metropolitan. Now it's time for the capital. In the period from March 5 to April 30, the interviewers will ask residents and residents of Warsaw, including for their transport habits.

– Now we want to find out how, where and what the inhabitants of the Warsaw metropolis move and what traffic intensity occurs at the key points of the transport network. This information will enable us to plan optimal transport solutions for the future – said project coordinators from the Mobility Department of the Mobility Policy of the European Funds Office and Development Policy of the Capital City of Warsaw Warsaw.

The last comprehensive traffic tests were carried out in spring 2015. “Analysis of research results will allow, among others, to update the mathematical movement model, which serves as a tool for planning optimal transport solutions for the future” – noted the town hall.

He explained that with the help of the model, you can, for example, check how planned roads or tram lines will be used, what their routes will be best, as well as how the investment will affect travel time, traffic on other streets and the number of passengers in other communication means. The model also shows how the drivers will behave after closing a road during the renovation and which way can be led by detours.

As part of the spring edition of the study on March 5 – April 30, 2025, the surveyers will focus on the study of transport behavior of almost 20,000 Warsaw residents. They will ask passengers, among others for the source and purpose of the journey.

The interviewers will visit randomly selected residential premises to interview all household members who are at least 6 years old.

The subject of the interview will be all travels on the day preceding the interviewer's visit (or on Thursday in the case of interviews conducted on Saturday). The study is voluntary and anonymous, and the interviewers' visits will take place from Wednesday to Saturday.

What will they ask about?

The interviewers will ask, among others, about the key information about the household for the study: about travel goals; used means of transport; Time of starting and ending of travel.

In addition to visits to randomly selected residential premises, information will also be collected in selected parking lots of the Park and Ride system.

“Officers from the PBS research agency sp. From the OO carrying out the study, they will be equipped with the identifiers with the name and surname and a letter explaining the purpose of the study signed by the secretary of the Capital City of Warsaw,” said the town hall.

In addition to surveys in residents' households, spring research will also include: car traffic measurements; Measurements of the number of passengers on buses and trams; Measurements of traffic related to large -scale commercial facilities; Measurements of traffic related to selected housing estates as well as traffic measurements and survey in selected Park & ​​Ride parking lots.

The Warsaw Movement Test 2024/25 will perform the consortium selected in the tender: PBS Research Institute (Leader) and Via Vistula. The city will pay a total of over PLN 8 million for the examination.
