The viaduct at Arkadia, Grójecka, Zawisza Plac, Marszałkowska – these are only selected sections of the tracks that the Warsaw company intends to renovate this year. The culmination of difficulties should be expected in late spring and summer.
During the Tuesday meeting with journalists, the Vice President of Warsaw Trams Konrad Niklewicz presented the renovation plan for 2025.
– Last year we were able to perform 23 renovation tasks on time. This year, we increase the bar and intend to perform 34 tasks. It is almost 10 kilometers of tracks that will undergo a general renovation. We want to take advantage of the fact that strategic investments force traffic breaks – said a representative of Warsaw trams.
Grójecka
This will be the case with the renovation of the tracks along Grójecka Street. Tramwajers will use the time when the most severe works related to the construction of the track to the Western Railway Station will enter the intersection of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 – Grójecka – Banach. The track will be modernized on the section from Narutowicza Square to the intersection of Banach. The renovation will last two months: from August to October.
Konrad Niklewicz pointed out that the tracks along Grójecka Street are the second most loaded section of the tram network in Warsaw. Up to 53 trams per hour pass in one direction this way. Interestingly, the track on a short section from Siewierska to Och Theater was last renovated in 1992.
The renovation will not include the journey at the height of Wawelska Street. This was renovated in 2023.
Viaduct at Arkadia
Already in the spring, the tram will enter the track section on the viaduct at the Arkadia shopping center (according to the latest data, the first most loaded section of the tracks in the capital – 60 warehouses per hour). A general renovation is necessary in this place. Due to the poor technical condition of the rails, the trams will drag 10 kilometers per hour here. However, technical services often come back to remove subsequent failures. The renovation will start in March and will last until May.
The tram traffic will be closed on the section from the Marymont metro to the roundabout “Radosław”. – In agreement with Warsaw trams, we decided to use non -standard solutions that did not take place in this part of the city. Trams along Broniewskiego Street will reach Plac Grunwaldzkiego – explained Artur Zając, deputy director for Przewozy at the Municipal Transport Board. – The renovation will take place in the school year, and we wanted to maintain tram traffic on a maximum long section – added Zając.
He announced that line 17 would continue to provide a direct connection between Białołęka and Śródmieście. Trams will go a bit circular route through the rates, Anders and Mickiewicz.
Two replacement lines are served from the movement. – One line will connect the “Radosław” roundabout with the string of Broniewskiego Street to the Home Army route. The second bus line will connect a roundabout with the Marymont metro station along Popiełuszki Street – the Zając pointed out.
Słomiński
At the turn of June and July The modernization of the fragment of the so -called the Śródmieście tram bypass along Słomińskiego Street From the “Radosław” roundabout to the entry to the Gdańsk Bridge. The section from the roundabout to Andersa, the TRAMWAY Warsaw company wants to order an external company, the remaining fragment will rebuild with its own strength. Reconstruction means excluding tram traffic along Słomiński and Międzyparkowa.
Details related to the introduction of replacement communication and changes in the organization of car traffic are in the finding phase. The modernization of a total of three kilometers of track is to be completed in September.
There will be a renovation of the track along Słomiński
Marszałkowska and Bankowy Square
Also In June, the renovation of the tracks along Marszałkowska will begin On the section Widok – Królewska. This means excluding tram traffic from the Metro Station Town Hall Arsenal to the Dmowski roundabout. For this modernization, track covers will also be used so that trams can turn back.

As we have already informed on tvnwarszawa.pl, a green track with a propeller is provided on the section from Królewska to Świętokrzyska, while on the section towards Ronda Dmowski a surface will be used, followed by privileged vehicles.
The modernization is to be completed in October.
In turn, from May to July, the tram will be successively replacing switches on Bankowy Square. This also means short -term switching off traffic on sections from Bankowy Square to the Vilnius Station, Cinema Fewina and the Dmowski Roundabout.
Zawiszy Square in the new technology
In July and August A renovation of the track at the node at Zawiszy Square is planned. Three inlets: from Starynkiewicza Square, Narutowicza and Kerlak Square will be closed separately.
Konrad Niklewicz announced that this renovation would be special, because it was made in technology that has not yet been used in Warsaw. – We want to use large -format prefabricated plates. Simply put, large pieces of intersection will be produced at the plant and brought to the place. It will be a complicated logistics operation, because one such block weighs about 40 tons – explained Niklewicz. He also noted that thanks to the use of this technology, the time of renovation and related difficulties in traffic will significantly shorten.
Less repairs
Using closures related to the construction of a track along Rakowiecka Street, tramwajiers intend at the turn of July and August take a streetcar in Aleja Niepodległości at the intersection with the Łazienkowska route. This means switching off traffic on the Nowowiejska section – Kielce Loop for about two weeks.
At the same time, many minor works have also been planned, which will not significantly affect traffic. These are repairs of tracks at Młynarska and Camp, at the intersections of Anders and Stawka, Targowa and November 11, in the area of the Nowe Bemowo loop and ul. Piastów Śląskie, at the Wolska – Skierniewicka node and some sections in Wołoska. In addition, selected crossovers on the PKP Służewiec loop, node of Al. Niepodległości – Nowowiejska (West inlet), Plac Zbawiciela, at the Młociny, Wiatraczna and Kercelak metro stations. In turn, the sections of the track, which will be planted with a green expander are: Mothers Teresa of Calcutta and Rembielińska, the aforementioned fragment of Marszałkowska, Grójecka and on the abutment of the viaduct at Al. John Paul II.
