Autumn plantings are underway in the capital. Greenery replaced concrete on Wileński Square in Praga Północ. A pocket park is being built at Powstańców Śląskich in Bemowo. In turn, two squares are being built in Żoliborz: Krasińskiego and at Broniewskiego Street.
As part of a project funded by the citizen budget, city gardeners planted two thousand plants in Vilnius Square. “This place is now decorated with 10 trees: Spanish plane trees 'Tremonia' and small-fruited pear trees 'Chanticleer',” the Greenery Board described in a statement. New shrubs, perennials and grasses also appeared, including: “Short Track” roses, Japanese meadowsweets, purple coneflowers and “Deep Blue Field” downy sages.
Pocket park in Bemowo
There is also more greenery on the other side of the Vistula. A pocket park is being built in Bemowo, at the intersection of Górczewska and Powstańców Śląskich streets.
As emphasized by the Greenery Board, the grass-covered, previously undeveloped area will become a meeting place for residents. Gardeners from the capital will plant two trees there, these will be bignonium catalpa, there will also be almost 500 shrubs and several hundred perennials.
There will also be benches, including one in the form of a swing. There will also be bicycle racks, birdbaths and insect houses.
Trees, shrubs and perennials
In turn, residents of Żoliborz can use two completed sections of the Krasiński Square under construction. It is being built on the southern side of the Krasińskiego Street road, on the section from Broniewskiego Street to the access street at 69 Krasińskiego Street. It is being implemented as part of a project financed by the civic budget.
The creation of Krasiński Square was divided into four sections. The first section was built in the place of a wild parking lot and was made available to residents in May 2024. In the second stage, trees, bushes and perennials were planted. Some of the plants grow on specially made hills. Work is currently underway on the construction of the next stage of this investment.
Wider sidewalks and mineral alleys
Work is starting in the immediate vicinity on a new square at Broniewskiego Street. “As part of this task, the renovation and widening of sidewalks, the construction of mineral paths and the installation of benches, a bicycle repair station and two-wheeler stands are planned,” the Green Area Management Board informed.
Plants will complement the investment. New trees, bushes and perennials will be planted. New lighting will be installed on the section from Krasińskiego Street to Matysiakówny Street.
The works will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
