At 5 p.m. Warsaw paid tribute to those who died in the Warsaw Uprising. Sirens sounded throughout the city, and residents stopped for a minute to commemorate the heroes in silence. The “W” hour was not forgotten at the stadium, where a concert by the American star – Taylor Swift – will take place.

The Thursday concert will take place in the evening, but fans have been waiting for their idol since morning. At 5 p.m., those entering the concert heard sirens. Cars driving by the stadium stopped. Tram and public transport drivers also pressed the brakes. Those who were already inside stood up from their seats. The music and the big screens were turned off.

A video from the “W” hour just before the concert was published on the artist's tour profile:

– Perhaps there will be wonderful, coincidental meetings when the paths of the crowd of Taylor Swift fans who will come to Warsaw from all over the region, including from abroad, cross on the way to the stadium with people going to the memorial marches. People standing in the queue to the gates at the stadium will hear these sirens. There will certainly be silence there too, questions about this time will be asked. Paradoxically, these may be contexts that are extremely conducive to a deep experience of this moment – said Dr. hab. Marcin Napiórkowski, cultural semiotician, co-writer of the “1989” spectacle, about the coincidence of the Warsaw Uprising celebrations and Taylor Swift's concert.
