There is a contract for the modernization and reconstruction of the Warsaw Ursus North Station. The platforms have been in a deplorable condition for years. Travelers alerted about the holes of “stuck” pieces of sheet metal or concrete knitting. The first construction works will start in autumn.

We informed about the terrible condition of the railway station in Ursus last summer at tvnwarszawa.pl. Passengers claimed that the station looks tragic and afraid to go through it. A few months later, railwaymen said that they were starting preparations for its thorough reconstruction and looking for a contractor. On Tuesday, representatives of PKP PLK announced the signing of a contract with a company selected in the tender. The investment cost will be PLN 11.3 million net.

– Everything will change here: new platforms will be created that will be thoroughly rebuilt, new shelters, benches, modern lighting, platform monitoring, but also infrastructure for people with disabilities. It will finally be a stop of the 21st century, which the local residents were waiting for – said infrastructure minister Dariusz Klimczak on Tuesday.

He emphasized that it would be a very fast reconstruction, because it would only last 11 months. He also reported that the investment is applying for funding from the National Reconstruction Plan.

Construction works will start in September

President of PKP PLK Piotr Wyborki explained that the first stage of the reconstruction of the Warsaw Ursus North Ursus station will last four months and will rely on design work and obtaining appropriate decisions.

– We assume that from September the platform closed first at track number 2 (towards the Warsaw Italy stop). The work will last several months. After complete modernization of this platform, we will go to the second platform at Tor 1 (towards the Warsaw Gołąbki stop). We assume that in the spring of next year we will give away a fully modernized infrastructure – he said.

Construction works will start around September. First, track 2 will be closed for about 30 days. Then, for 2-3 months, works related to the construction of infrastructure will be carried out.

– During this time, the passenger traffic of trains that will stop at the Warsaw Ursus North Ursus stop will be run only on the track 1. After 30 days, after building a platform 2, long -distance traffic will also be conducted on the track 2 – noted Wyborski.

After platform 2, the works will move to platform 1. Then for 30 days Tor 1 will be closed, and traffic will take place only on track number 2.

New platforms and amenities for travelers

In addition to the construction of new platforms, three gates of the traction network will also be replaced and two railway viaducts will be renovated over the access to the bus stop.

Two new platforms with shelters, benches, information boards and a modern passenger information system and monitoring will be created. New access and ramps from the side of Szamoty street on the Ursusa and Cicady Street on the Italian side will be built.

The construction of new platforms will be based on type L walls, not so far on stilts.

The Warsaw Ursus North stop allows quick access to West Warsaw in just seven minutes, as well as towards Ożarów Mazowiecki, Błonia, Sochaczew and Łowicz. Is on the key railway line number 3, on which long -distance trains also run to Poznań and Berlin

Plan the reconstruction of the Warsaw Gołąbki station

The Minister of Infrastructure said during the briefing that the inhabitants also applied for the renovation of the Warsaw Gołąbki station, mainly for the modernization of the footbridge.

– After the analysis, we came to the conclusion that this stop should be completely and thoroughly modernized – he added.

He explained that the platforms would be rebuilt, and instead of the footbridge an underground passage and elevators would be created. The minister announced that probably at the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year a tender will be announced for the design and reconstruction of this station.

The President of PKP PLK pointed out that as part of a bus project, which ends this year, over 200 stops will be built or built, and parking lots in almost 150 locations will be built.
