As flash floods began to inundate towns in southeastern Spain on Tuesday, people fled wherever they could to escape the high water. The police showed fragments of recordings from night rescue operations in the province of Malaga.

Flash floods occurred in southeastern Spain on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall. The water quickly flooded roads, properties, buildings and took away everything in its path. On Wednesday evening, authorities reported the death of nearly a hundred people.

The Valencia region suffered the most, but floods also caused huge damage in Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia. In the province of Malaga, residents were evacuated by helicopter. The drama of the situation can be seen in the recordings from the rescue operations carried out on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The services searched flooded towns from helicopters using night vision cameras.

The first recording shows a group of several people taking shelter on a standing container. When they saw the helicopter, they started waving at it. There was a fire burning next to them.

The night vision camera also recorded, among other things, a man standing on the roof of the building and waving something at the approaching rescuers.
