Improving the situation in healthcare? Closing boundaries for migrants? Protection against Russia? Or maybe partnerships? In the opinion survey24 for RMF FM, carried out before the debates in Końskie, Poles were asked what is the most important for them in the context of choosing a new president. Priorities often depend on political beliefs.
The respondents were to choose three main topics that the president should deal with and which they are – in their opinion – the most important in the context of the assessment of candidates. Among other things, they were asked about the situation in healthcare, policy towards migrants and cooperation with the government. The study was carried out on April 7-9, i.e. before the debates in Końskie.
These three issues are the most important
The question was: “Please mark the three most important topics for you, which you will take into account when choosing the President of the Republic of Poland.” First of all, respondents pointed to the need to improve the situation in healthcare. Almost 38 percent respondents indicated this answer.
Secondly, the most important for Poles is to close the country borders for migrants. 34.6 percent respondents expect the president to take action in this matter.
The third most important topic for voters is the protection of Polish industry and agriculture against European Union regulations (e.g. green order policy). This answer was indicated by 29.1 percent. respondents.
Every fourth respondent indicates that the president's ability to cooperate with the government will be crucial. Also every fourth respondent indicates the need to protect the country against Russia as a key thread in the context of the new presidency. Subsequently, Poles indicate the need to improve the Polish judicial system, liberalize abortion law and maintain good relations with USA or improvement of the education system.

Priorities depend on political beliefs
Improving the situation in health care is particularly important for women – as much as 45 percent. of them will pay attention to this issue by choosing the head of state. It only ranks third among men. However, this is one of the few topics that voters of all political options react similarly to. The second issue that the political consensus prevails to is the reform of the education system.
The choice of other topics reflects in most cases the political beliefs of voters and determines a clear division line between the right -wing and center electorate.
Closing borders is the most important topic for voters Sławomir Mentzen (67 percent) and Karol Nawrocki (66 percent). This case is less important for those who declare voting for Rafał Trzaskowski (9 percent).
Similar results were obtained in the case of the protection of Polish agriculture and industry. This topic is mainly indicated by the voters of the confederation candidate (60 percent) and the candidate supported by PIS (54 percent). The threat from Russia, in turn, is the most important topic for voters of the Civic Coalition.
While the KO voters also point to the need to liberalize abortion law, it is almost irrelevant for PiS supporters. The confederation voters show moderate interest in the problem.
Good cooperation between the government and the president is important for Rafał Trzaskowski's voters (51 percent), but not important for the electorate of Karol Nawrocki (19 %). Improving the situation in the judiciary is particularly important for voters Szymon Hołownia (51 percent) and quite important for supporters of Rafał Trzaskowski (35 percent).
The study was carried out on April 7-9 on a representative sample of 1000 Polish inhabitants. Computer -assisted telephone technique (CATI) was used.
