The team of the National Prosecutor's Office “to investigate cases of public interest due to their subject matter and nature, conducted and completed in the years 2016-2023 in common organizational units of the prosecutor's office” sent on Tuesday to the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar an audit report of two hundred proceedings that were conducted when he ruled the Ministry of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro and his subordinates. In many of them, prosecutors from the team found irregularities in the handling of these cases by their then clerks.
According to the findings of tvn24.pl journalists, the reservations concern, among others, investigations into the case of Jolanta i Aleksander Kwaśniewskione of the proceedings regarding night entry to the Counterintelligence Center of Expertise NATO (CEK) and against the heads of the Military Counterintelligence Service, as well as the “two towers” case.
Bodnar: the report will show how matters were “handled” politically
Bodnar was asked about this report in Saturday's “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He pointed out that “we often talk about 'settlement'.” – For me, settlement is a term that is associated with many different aspects. On the one hand, it is a matter of criminal liability of people who committed abuses, he said. – The second issue is the disclosure of various irregularities that have occurred in recent years – he noted. The third issue is – as the head of the Ministry of Justice announced – a return to cases that, for example, were “discontinued due to the politicization of the prosecutor's office.”
– And this report, in a nutshell, is about exactly that: how various questionable cases were handled during these eight years. The report refers to 200 cases that have been analyzed and will show certain mechanisms on how these matters were dealt with politically so that they did not gain too much momentum, he said.
Chief Minister: this is the first part
The minister said he already had the document on his desk and had read it. – It is really difficult to read because at every step you see a specific pathology in the functioning of state organs – said Bodnar.
