Who will the parties bet on in the presidential election? The name exchange has started

Donald Tusk has assured that he does not intend to run in the presidential elections. Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski remain in the game in the Civic Coalition. PiS still does not have a candidate, but a special team is investigating the opinions of Poles on what kind of president they would like. The Left has been saying for months that it will bet on a woman in these elections, and Trzeci Droga will most likely bet on Szymon Hołownia.

Donald Tusk not only unequivocally put an end to the rumors about his candidacy in the presidential elections, but also confirmed that in the Civic Coalition, although there are still two candidates in the running, only one of them actually counts today.

– It is no coincidence that Rafał Trzaskowski seems to be the most accepted by Poles as a presidential candidate in all possible polls organized by all possible media – emphasized the head of government.

Rafał Trzaskowski has already run for president once. Four years ago, he entered the second round, but ultimately lost to Andrzej Duda by a margin of just 400,000 votes. “Energy-oriented, competent, experienced, experienced in foreign policy, in managing a huge city. A dream president,” says Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz, MEP of the Civic Coalition, about Trzaskowski.

The coalition wants to finally nominate a candidate by the end of December.

Who will PiS bet on?

In PiS, there are no specifics yet. – We have several people, several candidates – admits Jarosław Kaczyński, the president of Law and Justice. A potentially long list, however, does not necessarily mean a long bench of good candidates, quite the opposite. There are many people in PiS who are willing, some of them say it openly.

– I am one of the people who are supposedly being considered – informs Tobiasz Bocheński, MEP of Law and Justice. – If I had to bet, I would rather bet that it will be a politician of the younger generation, than the most experienced ones – indicates Marcin Przydacz, MP Law and Justice.

The name of Bocheński appears on the stock exchange, but also Waldemar Buda, sometimes Patryk Jaki or Zbigniew Bogucki. The president had another candidate – Mariusz Błaszczak – but he has to revise his plans. A special group in PiS is working on it, analyzing polls, looking for a candidate and apparently already has an ace up his sleeve.

Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, a former PiS MP, believes that the right-wing candidate has a chance of winning only if he is not directly associated with chairman Kaczyński. – It has to be someone broader than just the one indicated by chairman Kaczyński – the politician emphasizes.

Poland 2050 and PSL go together

The Third Way has already decided. The project of cooperation between Poland 2050 and the Polish People's Party will continue in the presidential elections, which would mean that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will step into the background and make room for Szymon Hołownia.

– Trzecia Droga wants to put forward a joint candidate for president – said the leader of the Polish People's Party. – We are very clear: our candidate will be Szymon Hołownia – informs Magdalena Sroka, a deputy of Trzecia Droga.

The Left has been saying for months that it will choose a woman in this election, but no one wants to talk about a specific name for now. The search for a female or male candidate is underway, and not necessarily from a political group. – It can choose someone who represents the entire leftist worldview, but is not necessarily a politician – suggests Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic, a member of parliament for the Left.

The presidential elections will be held next spring.
