Wolkowa. The father died in a fire, the accused son of the crime

The District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka completed the investigation in the case of Witold C., accused of setting fire to the house in Wolkowe. A 77-year-old man's father died in a fire. During the investigation, shocking facts came out. According to the prosecutor's office, the 41-year-old had been abusing his father physically and mentally for several years. “He threatened him with murder and burning,” she revealed.

The investigation began with a notification fire of a residential building On the night of September 14-15, 2024. It happened around 23 in Wolkowe. Four fire brigades took part in the firefighting operation, including from Ostrołęka and Myszyniec. Father Stefan C. II son Witold C.

After the firefighting operation, burned corpse was found in the ruins of the building.

“He realized his threats”

According to a spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka, Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, during the investigation, dramatic facts were discovered about the last years of the life of the deceased Stefan C.

– It was established that from March 2021 to September 14, 2024 Witold C. was physically and mentally abused over his father at the time of alcohol. He called his father many times, kicked a 77-year-old father on his body, hit his face and head with his fist, and threatened his father with murder and burning. On September 14, 2024, he realized his threats – said prosecutor Łukasiewicz. And she betrayed the backstage of the crime.

In the evening he came to the house where his father stayed. He was aware that his father was sleeping on a higher floor of a wooden house. The accused planted fire in a lower floor of the building, in places where there were flammable items. The purpose of the arsonist was to spread the fire as soon as possible – she described.

Łukasiewicz pointed out that the house was completely burned and then the building collapsed. – Stefan C. burned down in a house fire, which set fire to his son Witold C. The charred corpse of the man was revealed by firefighters. Immediately after the fire, Witold C. drove away the fireplace on the bike. Witold C. was detained at a gas station in Myszyniec – she said.

During the suspect, Witold C. did not confess to the alleged crimes and gave extensive explanations during several times. According to the prosecutor's office, they are completely contrary to the evidence gathered in the case. The conducted forensic and psychiatric examinations show that during the crimes he was fully readable.

– Throughout the duration of the investigation against Witold C., temporary arrest was applied. Witold C. has been punished many times by courts, among others for beating, theft, burglary, robberies or threats – the prosecutor mentioned.

The murder has been punishable by 10 years in prison until life imprisonment.
