The first weekend of January will bring a change to winter weather. Later this week we will have light snowfall and a significant drop in temperature at night. In addition, it will be windy all the time, and in some parts of the country it is possible that it will thunder.

– Within the next 24 hours, Poland will find itself in a vast bay of cold. More atmospheric fronts will move through our country, bringing fleeting snowfall and allowing the inflow of Arctic sea air – informs tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Tomasz WakszyÅ„ski. He adds that by the end of the week there will be a thermal winter, so in most of the country the average air temperature will be below zero.

IN Friday there will be variable cloudiness throughout the country, with snowfall of up to 1-2 centimeters. In the mountains and on the coast, the rainfall will be more intense at times, with up to 3-5 cm falling there, and up to 6-8 cm in spots. Initially, in the northern belt are also possible storms. The maximum temperature will range from 0 degrees Celsius in the north-east, through 1 degree C in the center of the country, to 3 degrees C in Lower Silesia. The west wind will blow moderately to quite strongly. Gusts will reach speeds of 40-60 kilometers per hour in most parts of Poland. In the west it will be up to 60-70 km/h, and in the north, especially by the sea, up to 65-85 km/h.

Saturday will bring moderate cloud cover, which will increase to heavy cloud cover periodically. Very light and fleeting snowfall is possible in some places. The thermometers will show from -1 degrees C in the east, through 0 degrees C in the center of the country, to 1-2 degrees C in the west. The wind will be west, moderate and quite strong, gusting to 35-55 km/h

On Sunday Moderate and heavy cloudiness is also forecast. Light and fleeting snow may fall in the Suwałki region, and in the afternoon it will begin to fall in southwestern Poland. The temperature at the warmest moment of the day will reach from -1 degrees C in the north-eastern part of the country, through 0 degrees C in the center, to 2 degrees C in Silesia. The wind will be south-westerly and southerly, weak and moderate, only in the mountains it will blow strongly, with gusts exceeding 60 km/h.

On Sunday evening, on the night from Sunday to Monday and Monday, a warm atmospheric front will move through Poland from west to east, which, combined with the cooled ground, will result in a series of dangerous phenomena. Snowfall will turn into sleet and then into rain with a high risk of freezing precipitation – says the forecaster.

Moreover, on the night of Saturday to Sunday and the night of Sunday to Monday, the temperature will drop significantly. In some places, especially in the foothill areas, frost from -8 to -12 degrees Celsius is possible.

Warming on Twelfth Night

Mondayi.e. Epiphany, will be cloudy in most of the country. In the north-east there will be sleet, turning into rain. It will be quite sunny in the Lower Silesia region. It will get warmer across the country. Thermometers will show from 3 degrees C in the Suwałki region, through 6 degrees C in Podkarpacie, to 9 degrees C, and locally it is possible that even 10-11 degrees C in the western regions. There will be moderate winds from the south, but quite strong winds in the south of the country. In the mountains, gusts will exceed 80 km/h.

Tuesday it looks cloudy. Light rainfall will move from west to east of Poland. The maximum temperature will range from 4 degrees C in the Suwałki region, through 6 degrees C in the center and west of the country, to 8 degrees C in Podkarpacie. The south wind will be weak and moderate, only in the Carpathians it will blow stronger, with gusts of over 60 km/h.
