The police detained a 42-year-old man wanted on an arrest warrant in one of the houses in Zamość (Lubelskie Voivodeship). The man hid in the attic. The officers found him under a pile of clothes in a clothes cover fastened with a zipper.
An arrest warrant for the 42-year-old was issued by the District Court in Zamość.
He was wanted to serve a sentence of 258 days in prison for crimes against communication safety, including: failure to stop for a road check and driving under a court ban and with revoked driving license. The District Prosecutor's Office in Zamość was also looking for him to determine his whereabouts.
The relative assured him that he was not at home
“The officers' findings showed that he was hiding in an apartment in Zamość. The policemen went to the site. When they knocked on the door, no one answered, even though someone was in the apartment,” writes Deputy Commissioner Dorota Krukowska-Bubiło from the Municipal Police in a statement. Firefighters were called to the scene. After their arrival, the man's relative opened the door of the house without forcing them to enter. She firmly assured the police that the 42-year-old was not at home.
However, the officers did not believe her words and decided to thoroughly check all the rooms. They found the wanted person in the attic.
They took him to the prison
“The 42-year-old hid under a pile of clothes in a clothes cover fastened with a zipper,” says Deputy Commissioner Krukowska-Bubiło.
The police took the detainee to police custody, from where he was transferred to a prison where he will serve his sentence.
