A shocking recording of an accident that occurred at a pedestrian crossing in Żnin (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship). An 80-year-old driver hit a child crossing the zebra crossing. A six-year-old girl was taken to hospital. The case is being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
The hit-and-run occurred on November 29 around 8 a.m. at Klemensa Janicki Street in Żnin. A woman with a child was approaching the pedestrian crossing. The girl entered the road first and was hit violently by the driver of the passenger car. The child bounced off the bumper and fell onto the asphalt.
The woman who was walking with the girl approached the car right after the incident and banged on its window, then ran to the lying child, took it in her arms and started hugging it.
The recording shown by the portal palukiznin.pl shows that the driver of the Fiat passenger car did not stop before the crossing, but the driver of another car, driving from the opposite direction, did.
A six-year-old girl was hit on a pedestrian crossing
– The police determined that an 80-year-old man driving a Fiat in Seicento, for reasons that have not yet been determined, did not give way to a woman with a six-year-old child crossing the pedestrian crossing. As a result of this driver's behavior, the child was hit and was taken to hospital with injuries. According to the information we received from this medical facility, after conducting tests, the doctor did not find any life-threatening injuries. However, these injuries result in impairment of bodily functions for more than seven days. The driver of the car was sober – said Subinspector Krzysztof Jaźwiński from the police in Żnin.
The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
