For Iga Świątek, Sunday's match was the first with the new coach Wim Fissette, who replaced Tomasz Wiktorowski. The beginning looked bad, one could even say disastrous, because our player was losing 4:6, 0:3 and was close to making a spectacular mistake. But she finally managed to return to the game and win against Barbora Krejcikova 4:6, 7:5, 6:2.

Iga Świątek surprised on air. Suddenly she started talking about the situation in Poland

– I managed to turn this match around, despite the mess I was in. I missed it. I must admit that I have only been training for the last month, so I have managed to get used to these emotions – said Iga Świątek after the victory against Barbora Krejcikova. It was a match that cost the former world ranking leader a lot of nerves, not only because of the long break from the court.

– I had a lot of thoughts in my head related to what was happening in Poland recently. I just knew I shouldn't think about it while playing. Even though I had a long break, I managed to regain concentration and not think about things that hurt me. I have to keep fighting and I remember that I play for myself, she said on Canal+ Sport. It is not known what exactly she had in mind, but we can only guess that it is about the recent reports regarding her team, especially the role of her psychologist Daria Abramowicz.

– It is obvious that Abramowicz is the eminence grise of this team. I don't remember any other situation in sports where a psychologist was so visible – Tomasz Wolfke recently said about Świątek's cooperation with a woman. There were definitely more such voices, and many even suggested that the psychologist was the main reason for coach Tomasz Wiktorowski's departure.

Abramowicz is even supposed to be more than just a psychologist. She allegedly serves as the tennis player's mentor and is her friend. – From the athlete's point of view and from the psychologist's point of view, it would be good for a red flag to go off if, apart from mental training sessions, these two people spend private time together – summarized Jakub B. Bączek.

Thanks to Coco Gauff's victory over Jessica Pegula, we already know that she will be Świątek's next rival. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 5. The last time they both faced each other was in the semi-finals of Roland Garros, when our player confidently won 6:2, 6:4.
