15th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster. Arleta Zalewska recalls the victims of the tragedy

When the Polish presidential plane in Smolensk shocked the Polish disaster 15 years ago, the need to be together was so strong that for a moment all divisions ceased to count. Personalities, authorities, people who built this country and who wanted to build them further were killed. The reporter of “Facts” by TVN Arleta Zalewska recalls their.

On board the aircraft TU 154M, which crashed on April 10, 2010 in Smolensk, there were 96 people – 89 members of the delegation to Katyn and seven crew members.

Among them were President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria, parliamentarians, the last President of the Republic of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, the elite of the Polish army, members of the National Security Bureau, clergy, Katyn families, veterans of the Home Army, Siberia.

Politicians who died in Smolensk hosted in our homes for many years. The parliamentarians who took the disaster had their political views and plans. They were different. And very much. Sometimes they aroused controversy, made mistakes – like everyone – but for their environments they are authorities, personalities that could stand above divisions.
